Sorry to hear you are going through all of this.  I hate CT Scans and the evil drinks they make you drink.

*crosses fingers for you and wishes you the best*

Bowel movements?

Finally back. Blech. I hate going to the doctor. I ended up with a diagnosis of Acute Diverticulitis which can be treated with antibiotics. They IV'd me an immediate dose and I have to take 2 separate antibiotics for 2 weeks.
Thankfully I got there in time, it might have burst.
Thanks for all the suggestions, now I am going to bed.

YIKES!! I am so glad that you got it checked out. Hope you feel better soon!

Rule -> RE: How many calories... (8/25/2010 8:11:38 PM)

Indeed.

I hope to die before getting those symptoms, if ever.

There is no question my physical activity was cut back. I just thought there was a minimum amount of calories for a quieter life. Just judging on what I have eaten in the last week I would say it is anywhere from 500 to 1000 calories.

You need more calories than that. That is a starvation diet, and, long term, will fuck you up. Just sleeping uses up about 60 cal/hour.

You need to move. And you need to make sure you get ALL the necessary nutrients, INCLUDING water.

AN ex-lover/dear friend of mine has Ulcerative Colitis. She also has nausea, which keeps her from eating. She's getting thinner and thinner, and I am so worried about her. Not being able to keep food down, and what she does keep down goes right through her, is a deadly combo. I want her to fire her asshole quack, and get a doctor who knows how to communicate test results. I want her to get a COMPLETE physical, including all enzyme/hormone/nutrient levels, and all that. She uses poppy tea for the nausea (which is paradoxical, I think, (as PT can create nausea in some) and I cannot recommend it, since the DEA and all those other shitheads, starting with Nixon, have made it illegal to use certain centuries-old home remedies). This is serious stuff, woman.
High Severity, as my recent hospital admission form put it.

Don't fuck around asking random internetiots. Get some medical advice/care, like, yesterday.

Addendum: I didn't read further than the first page. Keep a close watch on your condition. Glad you went to get it looked at.

Thanks Tazzy,
I am on day 2 of my antibiotic regimine and frankly, it is still painful. When I say pain things are probably above what the average person might consider tolerable. This was bad enough to require immediate IV meds; and the pill form if not successful, will end up requiring surgery. If it is not better by this evening or tomorrow morning I have to go back. We are all hoping the inflamation continues to go down before that happens. Earlier at 5am I was sure I was headed that way. Right now at 9am things are becoming managable so I have hope I can avoid surgery.
