Oh can you SEE Otters in that, with a nice string of pearls and some gladiator sandals?

For me and LaT, the hat will be marabou, with rhinestones. With tazers, or cattle prods, to simulate lightning.[;)]

i like this answer i think it has some truth to it some people might be narcissistic instead of just having a fetish there's a difference. sociopaths are known to be narcissistic.

Something just occurred to me---there's this book called The Mistress Manual by Lorelei, that I flipped through years ago. It talked about archetypes of female domination---yes, an attempt to put us into boxes! They were.... queen?, governess, goddess, stuff like that. So, if you think that you want to be set above it all, and meet the men who buy into that fantasy, Goddess might fit!

i think that the reason they want money is that they don't really enjoy doing what they do if they did they wouldn't need to get paid for it. everyone wants to get paid for a tidious job but you don't ask to get paid for eating ice cream or something like that. the reason why they can't say no to doing something they don't want to do is because the people who want them don't let them say no and will even offer gifts so they refer to themselves as a goddess because other people treat them as one.

Or perhaps they like it so much, they figure why not get paid for it.

i think you don't need to get paid for something you truly love, unless you have no other occupation and enjoy taking people's money.

That's a very simplistic view, but you have ever right to it. I disagree with you but oh well.

WinsomeDefiance -> RE: When someone calls themselves a goddess what does it mean? (8/17/2010 5:58:23 PM)

I think that getting paid to do what you love is the very best career choice anyone can make. Especially if what you do takes you away from your family 8-14 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Even if you were independently wealthy you may LIKE to get paid for doing something you love. There could be internal motives for wanting that.... A person wouldn't NEED to be paid, but they may want to.

As to your original question, it could mean many things if they call themselves Goddess, and it could change depending on the context. My first slave began to refer to me as "Goddess" as a form of endearment akin to Mistress or Beloved... Etc. I've never required that someone address me in a specific way, but I do give that term of endearment as an option, after forming a committed relationship with them. It's sweet. It's silly. It's harmless. (To us.) And on a personal note: After some time... I really liked Goddess more than Mistress because of the connotation of the other meaning of mistress: a married man's lover. So in the end, if my charm (and dare I suggest beauty) does arouse adoration in someone, so be it! [;)]

I always thought using goddess meant the goddess in question was buying into the porn-generated idea of bdsm.

Or in other words, they thought all dommes were supposed to call themselves goddessX or princessX or grandhighpoohbahessX - so they came up with a variation on a theme to "fit in".

For the record, I find the Goddess title a bit silly, would make me feel inadequate because I can't do the lighting thing, end world hunger, wake the dead and all the other things goddesses should be able to do with little effort

I've never met anyone in the real-life scene who calls herself a "goddess", and I've seen the SF and London scenes.
I see the term used on line, and snicker.

If you are smart, you will pick a career that you enjoy because you are going to be doing it most of life. If It is not something you enjoy doing, then you will never be happy and it will show in your work. I know several pro dommes. They do it because it allows them to get paid for doing something they enjoy.

Same as the girl who cuts my hair. She has wanted to play with people's hair since she was a child. Now she can do it all day and get paid for it. Are you suggesting she should quit and get another job she hates and just cut hair on the side for free?

Are you going to choose a career doing something you hate?

Oh and everyone in the work force enjoys getting paid. That is the whole point behind a job, you get paid and then you turn around and pay your bills hoping there is enough left to have some fun.
