Steven Slater developed an instant cult following when he abruptly quit his job as a JetBlue flight attendant Monday, cursed over the loudspeaker, grabbed some beers, then bolted via the emergency chute.

It bothers me when lack of class is the only prerequisite for becoming a folk hero...

I think he is a complete loon

I read about it this morning, and went "Yeah, I can see why he'd do that."

About 180,000 miles and counting...

What a way to quit a job, talk about grand entrances and all that, what an exit, far better than a desk suddenly bare on a monday morning suggesting a compatriot has slipped away or been fired.

One thing about it though, such a newsworthy exit, will focus attention on why this person felt the nedd to do what he did, and with that, the exposure of unfair practice at the hands of employers.

Quite a leap on your part to assume it's the fault of the employer... can anyone possibly imagine that the employee may be at fault???? I don't get it... is no one ever responsible for their own behavior???

He could have just quit like normal people without causing all that extra work for others.

If I'm not mistaken, he was arrested by US marshall's later at his home.

Greetings all....

When he triggered the slide that way he is now owing the airline $10,000 plus, I think, to replace it and violated a federal rule or law. I don't work the airport so I am remembering things second hand. He grounded that plane until the chute is replaced which may take a day or more. Now he has cancelled the flights of that airplane for the rest of the day and caused a few hundred and possibly a thousand or more people to not get where they were going either on time or at all or to be booked on another airline at the airline's expense and Jet Blue doesn't have interline agreements for that with most other carriers. So....his stunt may have cost Jet Blue a couple of hundred thousand dollars by the time it is all added up. This is not the brightest thing a 20 year professional flight attendant could have done.

He is under arrest for a number of charges including reckless endangerment and damaging property. Sorry folks but his harm to a few hundred or a thousand or so others, not just the company doesn't outweigh whatever happened to him or that someone didn't apologize to him. Expect more charges before they are done with him. Think about how you would feel if you found out someone intentionally damaged a plane that you were supposed to get on and now you couldn't make your trip or would be late for either a pleasure trip or an important business meeting. How would you fell about him?

Be well all....

Malkinius
