DarkSteven -> Congress has abdicated. (8/4/2010 9:45:12 PM)

In an ideal D/s relationship, the Dom/me guides things.  The sub is limited to simple veto power - hard limits and safewords.

That's the way that the federal government is supposed to work.  The Congress creates bills, and the President does nothing more than accept or reject them.  He vetoes them or not.

Somehow, the President is now responsible for making bills and then releasing them into Congress, where they just get tweaked.

The roles have become reversed - the Executive Branch drafts legislation, and the Congress and Senate decides whether to act on it or not.

Just venting.

Steven,

Great VENT! Seriously, the American Government and our laws are being torn up and broken on extreme levels it ain't funny.

It's Congress that's is responsible for creating Laws. This is the way it's supposed to work.

Seriously people don't realize just how outta wack things have become.

Steven, don't worry, that'll change in November.

It isnt any different than its ever been. The POTUS is leader of his party and sets the agenda for legislation when his party controls at least one house in Congress. When Congress is split or both of the opposite party he is placed in more of a responsive role.

I'm looking forward to this, so some form of opposition can balance this mess out and slow it down or hault it in the tracks.

Uhhhh, like a bad stimulus bill that got rammed through, a bad health care bill that got rammed through, a bad FinReg bill that got rammed through, lack of any meaningful action on immigration except to oppose a bill that has the support of most of the country.
