Hiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii.

I'm having a wee bit of a problem and unfortunetly I've no one to ask this question. Perhaps its not unfortunate. Anyways.

My stomach feels like hot lava. Burns burns hurts ow. First it was my chest and possibly its still my chest, but the pain in my stomach is over shadowing that in my chest? I'd love to heat up a metal sppon and carve out my innards. Perhaps then I'll feel better - )

I dont know what the hell is going on, but I'm sick of this god forsaken feeling.

It could be stress as this weekend I could count as being an all time push me over the edge weekends. Obviously I havent gone, as I'm still able to speak in a manner in which others can understand.

Since I have very Little at my desposal now, I am using Bacardi (yelk) Bud light (yelk) and apple cider to hopefully help. Really I have very little at my disposal. And its not like a few days ago where I felt a burning sensation up and down my chest.

I'm not sure what to do, but its driving me crazy. Crazy enough where I;m going to have to find a bad distraction

DomKen -> RE: Hot lava (8/2/2010 5:17:57 PM)

sound slike acid reflux.

Booze will not help. Plain water will dilute the acid and help somewhat. antacids will give temporary relief. It can be caused/worsened by stress.

DarkSteven -> RE: Hot lava (8/2/2010 5:21:38 PM)

Maybe something alkaline like milk?  Ice cream?

Aneirin -> RE: Hot lava (8/2/2010 5:32:49 PM)

I second milk, chilled milk, ice cream or yoghurt, live yoghurt maybe.

When like that, I avoid alcohol for days if need be, as a burning sensation tells me something is wrong and it is time to concentrate on getting the body in balance again before I go off to abuse it once more.

Arpig -> RE: Hot lava (8/2/2010 6:11:13 PM)

Or maybe some medical attention

ThatDamnedPanda -> RE: Hot lava (8/2/2010 7:17:02 PM)

What did your doctor tell you?

You, uh..... did go to a doctor.... right?

KatyLied -> RE: Hot lava (8/2/2010 7:24:43 PM)

It sounds like acid reflux, it can definitely burn like that.  Stay away from spicy food, coffee, carbonation and booze until you get everything settled down.  You may want to see a gastro doc, they can work wonders for you.  I was sick for months and the gastro doc was the one who put me on the right track.  You may have something physical creating this, probably best to have it checked out.
: -)

DisenchantedLife -> RE: Hot lava (8/2/2010 10:35:31 PM)

Thank you for responding. I have tried milk which seems to subdue it temporarily. Stomach to chest... hugging a cool pillow to the area helps, until the pillow heats up.. That too, good lord am I hot. It;d be nice if I could stabilize my temperature

Its not a burning sensation, but it is hot. Hitting my chest helps a little, but when I do the same down my ribs to my stomach it doesnt. Pretty much right up the center of me.

I also don't have a spleen. Not sure if that matters or not. My ex seems to think it matters. In his mind any time I become ill I need to rush to the hospital and he's mentioned me going tomorrow. While its extremely unpleasant and has gone on for over a day now I'm not ready to go to that extreme.

Perhaps alcohol isnt helping. Unfortunetly its the only thing I have an abundance of. My original theory was I was doing it to myself. Mind fucking myself I guess. Over stressed, my anxiety going through the roof and its causing some sort of.......anxiety stress thing. I thought perhaps alcohol would help me chill out and relax.

Thanks for your tips. Perhaps when things get better I can go bug my doc about whats going on.

ThatDamnedPanda -> RE: Hot lava (8/2/2010 10:37:10 PM)

Not to sound snarky, but why would you wait until it feels better before you ask your doctor what it was?

DisenchantedLife -> RE: Hot lava (8/2/2010 11:35:42 PM)

I wasnt specifically clear. I Have to wait for things in My Life to get better before I can go to the doc. As it stands I have pennies to my name, no gas, bills due, and no insurance. Can only imagine why i'm beyond stressed out. Add 2 lil ones, extreme heat in florida and yeah I'm sweatin the electricity will be shut off before i can clear things.

Things will Start going right tomorrow at 10 am. When a wire transfer of funds from a previously unaccessible places gets sent to a place I can Touch It. 24 to 48 hrs after the one place starts will I get it at the other. They told me that it just depends on how long my bank will hold it. And I am telling the world. I'm beating down doors at 11 am demanding my money so I can rush around and pay my bills. Jesus. Than my youngest should go with his father for awhile and I can concentrate on myself. And if the stress relief from all of Those things hasnt cured me of whatever is wrong... I will entertain going to the doctor. Or perhaps I will go buy every antacid at the drug store. And if that doesnt work to the doctor. Except my doc is a douche and I've no insurance and I dont want to pay out the ying yang for a whatever. Jesus H. I've never had a problem like this before.

ER.

Malkinius -> RE: Hot lava (8/3/2010 2:37:48 AM)

Greetings DisenchantedLife....

I have a very serious and cheap suggestion. Buy a small bag of peppermints. The Starlight mint types. It might cost you fifty cents or a dollar. I literally had them prescribed by a former doctor (I moved out of the state) for reflux problems. I normally eat one after a big or spicy meal. It has pretty much stopped it with no other medical intervention for about 20 years. I can't say no gastro problems but very very few. It does sound like a reflux type of problem but only competent medical tests will be certain of it. If nothing else, the peppermints taste good. <grins> If they do help it is probably a reflux type of problem. If not, no great harm done and you can feed extras to the kids.

Be well.....

Malkinius

Raise the head of the bed. Get a piece of wood 4" x 4" and put under both front feet of the bed. This is recommended for acid reflux.

angelikaJ -> RE: Hot lava (8/3/2010 10:36:48 AM)

If you are in Florida and are without health insurance are are low income they do have clinics that offer sliding scale fees.

Adding booze to an acidic stomach is like trying to put out a fire with gasoline.

It sounds like though you are having more than one symptom and you should see a doctor as soon as possible.

If you go to the hospital and do not have insurance and are low income there is paperwork you can fill out that may help with that.

As a long time sufferer of ulcers and the like, I can tell you with a great deal of certainty that milk isn't the best thing you can do, it has a lot of protein in it, and if its a stomach acid thing, it will only make it worse in the long run. Like others have said stay away from spicey foods, caffine, sugars.

Have you got any "free clinics" around your area? This should be diagnosed by a doctor.

KatyLied -> RE: Hot lava (8/3/2010 6:53:58 PM)

Well, good luck, if your doc is a douche perhaps you need a better one.  You should be eating a bland diet until you get this figured out.  But waiting until your symptoms subside is not a good plan, you may have an ulcer, or you may have a sensitive gut, or who knows what.  The point is people on a message board won't help as much as a medical professional.  Even if he/she is a douche.

Presses on the OP's stomach

Does this hurt?

On a scale of 1 to 10 how bad is the pain?

hummmmmmmmmm

I need to send you to a specialist.

My nurse will give you the details

that will be 150.00

See the doctor. Any doctor. Call and make an appointment. It's not that expensive.

Use the money you're spending on that booze you've got so well-stocked.

Stop drinking it. That's a huge part of the problem, and it's exacerbating it.

Dairy if you tolerate. Soft diet, no spices. Crackers/bread might help some.

Red flags abound here. The pain is just the surface.

Doctor. Call. Now.

No charge.

Jeffff -> RE: Hot lava (8/4/2010 5:03:27 AM)

No Charge?
