I think that Obama is to strong headed to move to the middle. He's not as smart as Clinton and that will doom him in 2012. He just doesn't get it.

The latest Rasmussen poll shows the public now blames 0bama0 for the current state of the economy, not Bush.

All the trends are in favor of an early and permanenet end to the 0bama agenda. Thank God.

Except these.

*Presidents commonly poll low at this point in office. Reagan, for example, was in the low 30s.

*The Republican Party polls even lower than Congress (which is polling lower than Obama).

He's still the main game in town, and likely will continue to be so, unless Republicans find time to spin ideas instead of polls.

ETA: It's also not news. Heard an interesting interview that noted his advisers told him day after the election that with the sinking economy, he was going to take a hit in the midterms.

The rest is mainly that Republicans have nothing about which to talk.

The democrats biggest problem will be the black vote. Without Obama on the ballot they will stay home.

Yes, that may be true.

But it's true no matter who's President. Midterms favor Republican generally because their demographic more often votes.

servantforuse -> RE: Good news, in time for the midterms (8/2/2010 7:41:09 PM)

The 'over 55' crowd will also be voting in huge numbers in November, and they won't be voting for democrats.

Musicmystery -> RE: Good news, in time for the midterms (8/2/2010 7:45:23 PM)

Now that one's a fantasy.

servantforuse -> RE: Good news, in time for the midterms (8/2/2010 7:49:16 PM)

Not at all. They are hacked off at having 500 million cut from medicare to fund Obama care.

Musicmystery -> RE: Good news, in time for the midterms (8/2/2010 7:52:20 PM)

But alas, over 55 voters do not vote as a block.

servantforuse -> RE: Good news, in time for the midterms (8/2/2010 7:57:06 PM)

This year will be different. I guess we will have to wait and see..

If that was a reply to the >55 GOP turnout this November, you cant be serious. This will be by far the largest turnout for a midterm election ever for that group.

Youre right...but it will be overwhelmingly GOP...on the order of 55-60% in contested races.

only a thousand people and +-3% so what they are saying is those numbers are easily reversed, in other words, they haven't a fucking clue, either way.

You mean Americans are clueless... I am so shocked

This is my problem with him... he is a centrist and those who voted for him do not want that

My mom is on medicare, She no longer has to pay a co-pay for her drugs.. now, how is it that translating to anti-obama-ism.. my mom loves him

You've got to be kidding. He set up a tent in the middle the day he took office, and hasn't stepped more than 3 inches away from it in the entire year and a half.

He set up a tent in the middle ? Independant voters are leaving that tent in droves. Maybe they don't like the circus in that big tent in the middle ?
