Easy Rider, Five Easy Pieces, Chinatown, One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, The Shining, Reds, Terms of Endearment, Batman, A Few Good Men, As Good as It Gets, About Schmidt, Something's Gotta Give, and The Departed.

Also, I prefer Nicholson performance as the joker over Heath Ledger's performance.

My favorite Nicholson performance is Chinatown, but I gotta disagree about him doing a better job than Ledger as the Joker.

Oops, almost forgot: Poor Shore.

I love Jack Nicholson..

But Heath Ledger was transcendent as the Joker.... Just my opinion

Nicholson actually made jokes and the whole atmosphere of the movie was dark like comic books.

The original Little Shop of Horrors.  :)

But don't see The Terror.  It was awful.

They are totally two different roles when one thinks about it.. but if you ask me who was the better actor in that role, Health Ledger hands down. It was one of the best performances I have ever seen.

Like I said, I am not a professional movie critique, just my opinion

You should check out Guy Pearce's performance in Memento.

Have to concur with the other opinions....Ledger's "Joker" blew the doors off of Nicholson's rendition.

But Jack is unbelievable. So he allowed one punk to steal the limelight.

Memento, good movie.

If I was ass to mouth girl then could people really say "Poor Shore?"

His forum ranking would have to change to "Lucky Bastard"

Ok with regards to the joker roles BOTH  NICHOLSON AND LEDGER CAPTURED DIFFERENT ASPECTS OF THE ROLE. To me neither one was better than the other, and BOTH pale in comparison the the Joker as voiced by Mark Hamill on Batman The Animated Series in the early to mid-90's.
THAT one to me was the most complete version of the Joker.  Is Nicholson one of the greats of his generation yes,  but all too frequently he falls into the trap of just "playing Jack".  Robert Di Niro on the other hand disappears within his roles so I'd give him a slight edge over Jack.  Really it is like #1 and #1A.

Loved DiNiro in Godfather and Jack in Cuckoo's Nest.

Mostly chicks favor Heath as the Joker. Wonder if that is driven by his real life tragedy. I saw it and thought it was a great, dark peformance, made all the darker by knowing he was dead.

Definitely Jack in The Shining and One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest. He's awesome in my opinion.

One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest was just on AMC.  It's been so long since I had seen it, it was like watching it for the first time all over again.  I didn't even remember that they took a boat ride.  Still, that movie was/is one of the best movies I've ever seen.  Wow, and there were so MANY great actors in it!  Danny DeVito, Brad Dourif, Christopher Lloyd.  Even Anjelika Huston was in it!

You're kidding right?
I love the guy, Godfather and Goodfellas are a couple of my favorite movies, but the only roles he disappears within his role are mob movies, lol

Nicholson is arguably the greatest American movie star of our generation...but Heath Ledgers performance as the Joker was simply stupendous.....Heath's Joker was a meatier and darker vision...Jack was essentialy doing Jack...in Joker makeup.
Not really fair to compare the two....same character but different roles, different movies....hell a different vision of the same villian.

Ever see "Midnight Run"  Chris??  Di Niro in his first real comedy, it was hysterical.   Well acting and preferences for actors are like music, very subjective.
