Yes folks, if the rest of the summer turns out to be awful its down to me.

I have today had finished my decking/patio/pergola thingy in the backyard (now back garden) and will be kitting it out with barbecue, chairs and tables in due course. As an original design (by me) its really pretty damned cool (just like the rest of the summer).

The kitties love it. Theyve not liked the three strangers in the backyard these last few days, nor their insistence on hammering, sawing and so on. But every evening when the workmen went home they were all out, playing in the piles of timber and now playing in the finished article, which the catflap leads directly onto so no more clambering up or down.

Just watch it rain till May 2011

I KNEW it couldn't be all my fault!

I have a tiny back garden which is half-decked (going to finish the rest over the next week or so). The rain started ten minutes after I'd finished putting wood preserver on the last plank.

And I have plans to rejig my front garden over the next few weeks.

Instead, I'm forced to stay indoors, drinking pepsi max and watching old movies.

But I blame you LadyE...*hic*

I have a confession:

It is actually my fault.

It actually goes back to the summer of 1974, when I was 12.
I was a volunteer usher for a summer theatre. The seating was on bleachers and the seating and stage were under a tent. Every time I ushered, it rained. Every. Single. Time.
Pretty soon, it got to the point that when I showed up, the stagehands just automatically grabbed the buckets and mops.

Well, now I know who to blame! This is my one weekend getaway and I've been waiting for it for a looooooong time! We are going river rafting. The forecast has been wonderful. It hasn't rained in a month! Day after day of mid 80's and 90's. Well....today they changed it. Low to mid 70's during the day, 50's overnight and a 60% chance of thunderstorms rolling in about the same time we are planning on getting on the river!

If i ever own my own house, i'm going to put cat flaps everywhere, in all of the doors. i've even contemplated having a cat "play room". You could build little catwalks into the walls, just below the ceiling. i'm going to be the crazy cat lady.

Being a crazy cat lady is a big commitment Pam, not something to undertake without serious consideration and a lot of money - to be spent on the cats of course, (a minimum of 20 are required), whilst you eat no more than once a day (and only noodles or something similar) and live in squalor, wearing only charity shop clothing and not washing too often either because clothes, toiletries and so on are expenses that could be and will be devoted to the cats.

And it doesnt stop there either - you have to also withdraw from human society, venturing out only to get more kitty supplies, mumbling requests for what you want at the store on account of having lost the ability to socialise with your own species and taken up attempts at feline verbal communication. It also helps to be able to ignore flea bites and to be adequately resistant to the several diseases and conditions they will result in eventually.

All that hard work and perseverance will come to fruition though. When kids steer clear of your house for fear of the witch that lives there and adults, on the rare occasion you do venture out, stare at you with a mixture of pity and caution, you will have made it as a mad cat lady.
