Is there an ink that can be applied to the skin with a stamp pad that will not wash off?  Looking to make a temporary tattoo/brand.

As far as I know... not really. Not beyond temporary tattoos, henna, airbrush tattoos and Sharpies. How long they last will depend on how well they were applied and how well you take care of them.

Henna can last six weeks if properly applied and taken care of. I think that's your best bet. But it's usually applied with a brush, not a pad.

I was thinking Sharpies, also, but they don't do a pad, as far as I can find.  And define 'temporary'?  a few days? a few weeks?

Temporary as in any period of time that is not lifelong.  At least a few days.  A couple of weeks would be ideal.

You could also get your own temporary tattoo paper and print whatever you want onto it and go about it that way

Don't the temporary tattoos wash right off, though?
Henna, eh?  Is there more than one way to apply that?
Thanks for all the advices.

This might answer some of your questions about henna http://www.hennapage.com/

Be sure to have a look at the Indigo page...another option.

I've always seen it done through a tube, like frosting. It's a thick paste and does require some care to make sure that it stays as long as possible. It takes some time to dry and will stain anything it touches. So while it's drying you need to be careful not to let it touch anything.

One might be able to apply it with a pad but, from my experience making and applying henna, I just don't think it would work very well.

Oh... run far away from anything that claims to be "black henna".

Isn't it? I remember when I was starting out in henna I came across an article about a kid who had "black henna" done on him. Poor little guy is going to have Bart Simpson's head on his arm as a scar for the rest of his life.

Just be careful of allergies!  I had a friend who didn't know she was allergic to henna.

Let's just say it wasn't pretty...

If you want black you can try Jagua. THIS IS NOT HENNA.

This is a citrus fruit pulp from south America. I've used it and it works well, but takes a while to apply. It is kind of neat because it doesn't show up right away. The stuff is kind of like jelly. you put it on in the pattern you want, wait for it to dry, then peel it off. Over the next 8-24 hours the pattern shows up. It works better if you exfoliate the area first, at least it did for me. It looks a lot like an older black tattoo on my skin. My icon pic is a real black tattoo on my arm, and the jagua looks a lot like it.

Native people use this for marking themselves, and eat the fruit as well.
