I agree. Shorter periods and build on the muscle memory so the whip goes when you want it with no conscious thought. This is similar to the "Sword-No Sword" technique where the katana is an extension of your arm. By that time you automatically take the correct grip for each weapon or toy as applies to your body height and weight etc. Also as you gain experience and start to use the whip correctly and automatically do so, you reduce the risk of injury because your body is working in-sync, thus reducing the stresses on it.
