Status: offline 		ok, I am 48 years old and have been so enjoying the fun of having to keep moving up in strength of drug store reading glasses for the past few years.  Eye doctor tried to get me to do the progressive lenses last year, but I said I am good with the cheapos since I drop em and lose em so much.

So yesterday, I go for my eye exam and mention how I hate wearing glasses. He offers me some contacts to wear while I look at glasses, and I am amazed that I can read even the little bitty letters with contacts on.  I fall for it hook line and sinker!

A sweet lil gal that works there tortures me by making me put them in and take them out 5 times before I can leave.  We laugh, I curse, I take a cig break, but finally I do it and I walk out so happy that I can read every road sign, read collarchat with no glasses, see the birds in the trees out back clearly.  The world is clear again!

So, this morning I have tried 3 times to put the motherfuckers in, and I can't seem to do it.  I am ready to kill, I have tried every trick they taught me yesterday, and I keep finding it on my eyelashes or my cheek.

Any secrets another contact wearer might could give me?  I can't go back to glasses after my day of freedom yesterday dammit.  And, if you wear contacts, how long did it take you to get the hang of putting them in and taking them out?

Ugh, I am going to try again, and I hope I get to read replies with the contacts in.

Status: offline 		I got my contacts at 16 ... took me awhile to get the hang of it.  Practice Practice Practice.. It gets easier ..good luck!! I love contacts !!!

not just for reading...they are bifocal contacts.....i just had failure number 4 for the morning, thought I had lost one, looked everywhere and finally found the damn thing stuck to the end of my finger-lol.

I will try again in a half hour or so.  I am going to be wearing them all the time, once I get the hang of this..... I can't remember the last time "Is it in?" went through my mind as many times as it has this morning.

I go back to work on Monday, so I gotta get it right by then, I won't have all day to play after that.

Status: offline 		I started wearing them in middle school and it took me a few weeks to get it down. My advice is to try several styles of putting them in and taking them out - everyone does it a little differently. I hold my eye open with one hand, pinning back my eyelid with my forefinger so I can't blink, and use the forefinger of my other hand to actually put the contact in. I've seen people who do it one handed, which always amazes me.

That's good, take a break. Sometimes mine pop right in, other times....................GRRRRRRRRR!!!  I know when I hear a slight squishy sound that it's in.

Sat. night my right contact was actually too far up in my eyelid for me to see so I couldn't get it out.  I took a long shower then sat down & massaged my eye w/the hopes it would slide on down. It did after about 30 minutes.

Status: offline 		Well. they are on and I am exhausted.  It will be nice to go down in history as the first person too uncoordinated to wear contacts though!

Can't wait til tonight before bed when I get to take them out

Ditto on the squishy sound and EWWW! Thank G-d that hasn't happened to me. Athough once a contact got so dried out that I actually had to run into my doctor's office to get them to take it out for me. I kept freaking out that I was going to hurt my eye whenever I tried to get it out.
