today, i was sitting in my car, just checking out my diary to see who i was going to see next and i looked up to see an elderly man walking along the pavement beside my car.  there was a high beech hedge to his left and he was walking very slowly with a stick.  i took my eyes of him for no more than 3 secs as i looked down to turn the ignition in my car and i looked up again and he'd vanished.

there was nowhere for him to go, no gateway along that fence and he was walking too slowly to have reached the end of the pavement.  i drove up past where he would have gone to turn my car, and ill admit, check to see if he'd somehow sped up and was beyond my field of vision.  but there was absolutely no sign of him and absolutely nowhere he could have gone.

now im not saying i saw a ghost today, but im seriously hard pressed to think anything else.

makes you wonder how many ghosts are pottering about and we have no idea thats what they are

anyway, ill bet you guys have a few stories to share x

as i drove back out of the cul de sac i did look for him, but no, he was stooped and veeeerrry slow on his feet.  when i spotted him walking past it took him more than 3 seconds to walk past my car and progress, therefore i would have seen him pass my car on the return.  to be honest if id thought he was heading anywhere of any distance i would have offered him a lift, it was almost painful to watch him walk, he was so very slow.  there was only one gateway along that beech hedge and id just walked out of it.  im sure i would have seen him approaching even, to my left. in either direction there was no way he could have gone anywhere in the time frame.

Don't wanna. I don't want to capture the attention of any evil forces. Yeah, I know how flaky that sounds, but frankly, I don't care.

I don't blame you.

And no, it doesn't sound flaky, at least not to me.

What sounds  flaky is trying to explain that most ghosts aren't really ghosts they're more like energy "fingerprints" left behind. Rarely are they an actual consciousness.

Not that I know or anything...

Really.

WOW!  I just saw a picture on my sister's facebook that she took of my niece and there was a hooded figure in the background!  I asked if it was live or Photoshopped, it was that clear, but I'm thinking NOT Photoshopped.  Ooky spooky creepy cooky!  My sister doesn't even live in an old house.  So, I don't know!  I'll let y'all know what she says.

Here, I cropped my niece out of the picture.

I don't know, I think I just changed my mind.  I'm kinda thinkin' Photoshop, now!

Maybe an optical illusion??? Looks like a window curtain. Coulda been anything outside to form the illusion .... or maybe the Grim Reaper eating lunch under a tree and enjoying a sunny day while on vacation - death takes a holiday. Oh sorry, that was an old movie I think.

The simple explanation is that much more than 3 seconds had actually passed. I've done similar things myself. I remember once seeing a jet way up there headed West toward the Atlantic. I got on with pegging out my wet clothes. Then felt as you did, a bit shocked that the plane was way out of sight. Disappeared. Not even a vapour trail left. I was convinced that I had first seen it perhaps 10 seconds ago. Of course this was not so.

A teacher friend explained to me once, that people just switch off when they need a break. She is so used to kids in school and adults in college doing it that she can tell from their expressions. Thats what you did today. Apparently awake, but not fully conscious.

I know a guy who drives a lorry all day long. He confided in me once that he was often concerned that having passed several hours on motorways, he cant recall any part of the journey. Its like he is on autopilot, but not fully conscious and aware of events nor even the passage of time. A kind of sleepwalking I suppose.

So don't be spooked out by it.

Well, the cat's out of the bag.  My niece used a free app on the net called "Ghost Capture".  However, she DID say that she put the "ghost" in the area where she felt the most "activity".  My sister said she thought my niece had "the sight", however, I know for a fact that my sister lets E watch all those shows on ghost hunting and stuff.  No wonder she used the word "activity".  LOL!  She is a smart kid, though, I'll give her that!

lol, is that along the lines of i see stupid people? they're usually on the turnpike trying miserably to merge into traffic.

no, it is not silly to avoid pissing off the negative energy in the universe, the less it notices you the better in my book.

Maybe he turned and crossed the street behind your car...so you would be looking on the wrong side of the street.

I don't see that story as being spooky at all.  If something like that happened to me I'd welcome it.

Could have been an optical illusion..or well just about anything.

............ but surely id have heard that odd noise it makes when it starts to travel off!! - i dunno, maybe not

i think its one of those moments when you had to be there to get the full sp on it.  to be honest i didnt find it spooky either, i like the reassurance of these things when they happen and its usually quite an intimate thing, like youve been privvy to a moment or a memory youve been invited to share, for whatever reason that might be.

i dont get bad energies anymore, i used to be scared of them until i learnt that theyre only grip on you is fear, once you lose the fear they lose their ability to hold you.... not saying id stick around to find out, but in the end we have more positive energy than they have negative, its simply a matter of being more resolute than them and blocking them out.

my son had a visit from something in his bedroom.  he started sleeping with me and when i went into his room there was a definite atmosphere and it felt bitterly cold in there. i slept in there to see what was happening and i had some seriously bad dreams and went and slept on the sofa for the rest of the night.  the next day i went in there with attitude.  i was so phucking angry that this thing would attempt to attack my child and i sent it packing.  i said nothing to Tom but he went back to being happy in his room again pretty much straight away.
