well then, i've officially failed. After further analysis of my situation i've come to the conclusion that i'am indeed desperate.

sunshinemiss -> RE: scammers (7/18/2010 8:32:49 PM)

Meh.  you learned something.  That's not failure in my book.  But look up the sub frenzy thing.... and breathe!  Then get thee to a munch!  There are plenty in Oregon!

LadyPact -> RE: scammers (7/18/2010 8:52:31 PM)

In defense of the Mods, your original post did not have a thing to do with bondage, discipline, sadism, or masochism.  That's what BDSM stands for.  Nothing in the OP had to do with any of those things or dynamics that include those things.

For the record, you did get scammed, but that is because you were a volunteer in the process.  This is why scams work.  It preys on the fact that people are desperate.  Without prey, there would be no predators.  Simply put, stop being a target!  Start using the gray matter between your ears.  Don't go to sites that want your credit card info and don't send pics to people that you don't trust.

As for how the site needs to verify if people are real or not.  Sorry.  That's your job.  Speaking as someone who attends our group's munch every month and goes to other events, let Me say for the record that after meeting well over a hundred people from this site, I'm not jumping through anybody's hoops to prove how "real" I am.  Getting out from behind the computer might be something that you will want to consider.

man, this is why i didn't want this thread in the off topic forum, people like this talking shit.

Bottom line:

they send pics, i send pics. I ask for specific kind of pic, they ignore me.

I could be wrong about this, even though it is NOT in BDSM topic area, are we not all in the BDSM lifestyle on this site? I mean we are at this site for a reason, so my thought is this, no matter where the topic is, people from the BDSM lifestyle ARE going to weigh in on it.
As for your situation, my thought is this. I don't discuss lifestyle stuff with someone that I don't know & if someone wants a pic of me, I refer them to my profile where a nice G RATED pic is sitting, and if they want other pics, that just doesn't happen for ANYONE.

Thanks sunshine. Yeah you're right there are a lot in Oregon, i'm planning on attending one, it's better to be in the community that way then only behind a computer screen. *breathes* lol

i searched for the sub frenzy and came up with this thread:

and by the way, thanks to the mod who within 34 seconds of me posting this thread put it in the off topic forum. This thread has everything to do with BDSM and this site. I wish the fast acting mods of this site would be fast acting on people who are trying to scam others. This thread isn't off topic, it's some real shit. This site claims to be about the BDSM community\. Well within their BDSM community site this happens all the time, so i think it should be a part of the general discussion.

This OP has nothing to do with BDSM.  It has everything to do with whining.  You didn't use your common sense, now you want to cry and complain about it.  Why would you send explicit pictures of yourself to a stranger who made you jump through hoops and sign up for (and pay for, I'll bet) internet sites?  The person, most likely a male got money for each and every person he can get to sign up for sites.  How many did it take before you finally caught on?

Please read the TOS, terms of service YOU agreed to when you signed up for Collarme.  It states, quite plainly, that Collarme does not confirm the identity of the users.

In other words, YOU are responsible for YOUR OWN internet safety.  Collarme did post a warning that YOU apparently neglected to read every time YOU send an email from this site.  If YOU refused to heed that warning, then the problem rests solely in YOUR ballpark.

BUDDY HOLLY! I have loved you since I was a little girl! *smooch*

Sorry you got scammed, OP. We can be a little harsh sometimes because we get someone posting a thread just like yours about every five seconds, here. Its hard to believe anyone could be so stupid as to give things away to strangers online. Yet it happens constantly, or there'd be no money in it for the scammers. Pick yourself up, dust yourself off and move on. Stick around the forums and have some FUN with us. But yeah- get out in the real world too. You can learn a lot both ways.

Welcome!

Explore, and have FUN! [:)]

Also, please send me compromising pics of yourself, along with your credit card info- right away! [:D][:D][:D]

heshslave -> RE: scammers (7/18/2010 11:48:06 PM)

Done and done.

Hhaha yeah i know, it's funny people just wanna like type with all caps on and beat a dead horse every time they see a thread like this. No matter how you explain it or what posts came after the first one, someone is going to ignore it all and post something in which they will never re-read. You're right tho, it's all about having fun and exploring and thats what i intend to do.

The reason i think this person is a scammer is because they continuously had me sign up to different cam sites for the purpose of getting to play with them on cam.

Collarme provides email, chatrooms, forums, and even videochat at no charge.  To play on cam, you don't have to leave the site.

tiggerspoohbear -> RE: scammers (7/19/2010 3:20:47 AM)

So you got taken because you parked your common sense at the door. Take a number, you're not the first, nor will you be the last. The reason these pay sites still exist is that there's a sucker born every minute. Take it as a lesson learned, the hard way, and move on.

As for CM, the mods have enough work to do, all volunteer by the way, without having to check every new member that signed up. Imagine the work they'd then have to add to an already full workload. Again, the mods are all volunteers and work their asses off to keep things flowing smoothly.

CM is also a free site, if you don't like that people are going to try to scam you, and you're not smart enough to figure out, then don't let the door hit you on the ass on the way out. And don't forget to ask for your refund. The cheque's in the mail. [8|]

Rule -> RE: scammers (7/19/2010 4:17:45 AM)

I note that you have no profile up.

quote:

ORIGINAL: heshslave
I recently began communicating with someone on CM that i believe to be a scammer.

So report him using the report button.

quote:

ORIGINAL: heshslave
If you are a submissive and you come off being a regular person wanting to be friends with a Dom and basically get to know them and find out if they are who they say they are, you get black balled for it because it's not a proper way to talk to a goddess and all this bull shit.

So ask them what the proper way is. (Usually they have that in their profile.)

And why do you want to be friends with a dom? For whatever reason would a dom want to be friends with a slave or sub?

quote:

ORIGINAL: heshslave
So if you're like me and put faith in a "Dom" and do as they say until you feel it's time to have them prove something such as their identity, then you're treated like shit and ignored.
So far this has been the scenario for me (3 separate occasions).

It is said that an ass does not stumble on the same stone twice. My conclusion is that you are not an ass.

I note that there is one constant in all these mishaps: it is you. So you might consider to change that about yourself that makes you have these mishaps, like for example your expectations.

quote:

ORIGINAL: heshslave
I have yet to meet someone who is real.

There are only pixels on a monitor here. If you want to meet real people, then get out among real people, get away from your monitor. Go to a munch or to another event or location where there are real people.

Also, if I recall correctly, when receiving or sending cmail CM warns all users not to send money to any members for any reason. I hope that you had sufficient sense to heed that warning.

xxblushesxx -> RE: scammers (7/19/2010 6:31:18 AM)

OP, what happened to you is called ewhoring. Do a google search on it.
Here's just one thread where guys are figuring out how to do it (make note of how they pick pictures which look real) http://www.moneymakerdiscussion.com/forum/general-discussion/10733-too-crazy-e-whoring-method-got-30-replies-5-min.html

Consider yourself lucky you are not being blackmailed. [image]http://www.millan.net/minimations/smileys/blackmailsmile.gif[/image] I have to wonder why in the hell you would send explicit pics to a stranger, irregardless of what they sent to you first.

CM is disappointing on so many levels I must add. People take advantage of the whole D/s thing. If you are a submissive and you come off being a regular person wanting to be friends with a Dom and basically get to know them and find out if they are who they say they are, you get black balled for it because it's not a proper way to talk to a goddess and all this bull shit. this is not the fault of the site, but rather the individual you are talking to.
quote:

There are a lot of "Doms" on this site who  seem to be people who are not even into BDSM and are here only to take advantage of people who will willingly give them money just to be ignored.
Literally ignored. They get off on literally being ignored.
If they are willingly handing over their money it is not the fault of the Dom/me. Hell....i would LOVE to hear from someone who said he will pay me to ignore him!

The Mods post warnings concerning sending money to others...one is at the top of every c-mail sent. They are hard to miss. CM has a support team for reporting things like this. What the hell more do you want them to do...hunt the scammers down and shoot them? The fact is YOU fell for a scam (i suspect more than once) and if you are dumb enough to fall for it, the responsibility is on you.

I disagree. Scamming is not a BDSM thing. It happens on all sites.
