I am very interested in needle play.
I tried to research a method of inkless tattoos as well, because the process interests me, just not the permanant result.
I love the look of needle corsets, i love the look of needles in breasts, and nipples...
i used to poke pins in myself as a teen..i found places i could make them go in to the tip so there were just little colored balls showing.
i guess maybe similar to cutting? i don't know.

It just fasinates me. :)

I've actually considered trying to do needle play again, as a way to get over my feelings from a very bad situation involving needles. I dn't know. I probably won't. Pretty much hate needles, and prefer to completely avoid even looking at pictures of needle play. Whenever I do stumble across it, 'why' is a milder reaction that I have, among others.

I haven't decided if I like the thought of needle play yet. It makes me incredibly nervous and takes me out of my comfort zone...which may be the appeal to me.
We haven't done any kind of needle play or cutting yet, but I know it's coming because I know he has a strong desire to draw blood from me.
I think I would be very emotional during it and would most likely have to be completely tied down.
I know I would want a lot of physical contact during and afterwards. And then he better take me out for wings and clams and beer after...

It embodies the deep emotional bond we share. He can take part of that which keeps me alive, my blood, without me having to sacrifice my life. It's artistic and creative. It goes beyond the surface of my skin and pierces into the meat of me and often to the soul of me on occasion. It's invigorating and stimulating to the point of helping to create a high so I can take flight with him. It speaks to what may be after the superficiality of my flesh has long withered away so that in rare instances I feel like I transcend death to go beyond the boundaries of my own skin. There is the taste of blood, the small sounds which escape me when the piercing takes place and the sounds of my heart beating faster as we progress. I can feel my own pulse when it races and there's the sensation of the piercing itself. Needles and cutting allow me to use all my senses at the same time sometimes so much so that it can be a sensory overload which I think rocks. I learned so much about the history of piercing when I began to study this form of art, so it's also been educational which allowed me to grow. The sharpness forces me to focus and to breath, to be aware in ways which don't happen with other forms of play. There's such a stillness in the anticipation but also a thrill to it at the same time. It simply allows for anything to happen.. from flight to laughter, from tears and screams to joy and exhilaration. It's like the difference between shopping at 7-11 and shopping at Mall of America.. there is just no comparison to anything else out there for me.

Other than that.. ya got me as to why some people like it.

On a purely humorous level (tongue in cheek here), needle play is my personal answer to "penis envy" -- not being a fan of dildos, dongs, etc., I certainly get a heck of a thrill out of inserting steel beneath someone's skin.

Even before it became a fetish issue for me, I thoroughly enjoyed my paramedic/phlebotomist days and starting IVs and drawing blood, and doing suturing... I know... strange... but I -loved- the blood-tang in the air (often mixed with that hint of fear pheromone). As a bit of an adrenaline junkie in my youth, I found no shortage of dangerous activities from mountain-climbing to dirt-bike jumping that were bound to result in injuries that I could volunteer to be the "medic on site" for... managing  injuries by  inserting needles under the flesh and, occasionally, shoving bones back under the skin... at least until having offspring with a soldier meant too great a sacrifice to stay in jobs requiring overnight shifts and taking flaky entire-day jaunts with rock-hoppers and bike-jumpers, and I abandoned emergency medicine for midwifery (where I could bring my own babes along when I went to deliver a baby). Alas, as a midwife I didn't get to stick needles (labs were drawn at the covering OB's offices or regionally accredited labs) and only rarely had to do any suturing aside from tying off an umbilical cord.

Imagine my profound joy when I discovered that -some people- were poking needles in people, separating layers of skin with scalpels, and decorating individuals with sutures FOR FUN! I was hooked (occasionally literally!!!). I started out learning body piercing, and then applied my earlier skills to the decorative placement of needles on human flesh.

What do I get out of it? Hmm.. interesting question. Clearly, there's a power dynamic involved. There sort of -has- to be for me... in this case, most of the time I am in charge of tools that... if you'll pardon the pun... really get "under your skin"... and then, on a completely esoteric level, there is the amazing energy, the scent of pain, ecstasy, and fear mixed with steel and blood that, at least to my nose, just fills up an area where piercings, cuttings, and brandings are being done. (Branding is a whole 'nother beast -- not an area of expertise for me, but definitely one I hope to eventually have more time with).

Ok, so this ended up a whole lot more 'artsy-fartsy' than I'd originally intended. The fact is, I love blood -- I love blood symbolically, as a representation of flowing life, and I love blood physically, in the way that it moves, looks, and smells. I like the feel of a needle slipping under the skin...

As an aside, I like both sides of this particular fetish, which tells me that it really is about something artistic for me, and that juxtaposition of the hard nature of steel and the soft resiliency of flesh -- the feel of it, the look of it, and the smell and taste that permeates the air when everyone involved is -really- into the scene. Decorative piercing and tattooing are actually one of the few times that I can actually -yield- to someone else's control over doing painful things to my body and LIKE it.

Don't know if this made a damned bit of sense -- have you ever had one of those times when you're trying to explain something, and it's like a -flashback- and all you can do is try to describe what you're sensing while it plays out again under your hands?... well... ok... so now you know...

I used to do a lot of needle play but have now tuned it down to 3 people. There is only one person that ever does needles on me and thats Steve.
I find the giving and taking of needles very similar. Its a deeply inner spiritual feeling (not religious). Its a journey of unison where our emotions entwine. Its a hedonistic fix where ones senses seem to become so much more acute.

There's an old video on YouTube you may be interested in:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lqZIKhTpOLk

It has inspired many more and takes advantage of the fact that behind the navel there is a shaft of scar tissue. Piercing this can give intense sensations. There's a whole community just based around navel torture. I got into it a few years ago ..although my needles were always shorter then 2 inches. It was exciting for awhile and eventually I lost interest but it's certainly something worth taking a peek at if your new to the idea.
Obviously there are some precautions, so do some research before you go stabbing!

for me personally needles give me a high. They aren't so painful that i can't stand them but yet create just enough of a sting to make my endorphins kick in and that endorphin high throws me into a mindspace that is incredible for me.

I've always been very curious about needle play, but haven't ever had the opportunity to try it. MasterK has never expressed an interest in it.

Needle play is one of my hard limits, I am positively needle phobic, if one believes in such a term.
I've been told there is no such thing as "needle phobic", usually just before they hold me down and stab me with the damn thing.

And when they're done, usually just a few seconds later, granted, they go, "now, that wasn't really so bad, now was it!?".

Yeah, sure, it didn't last long, and I've done things to myself that hurt much worse than that, if you're thinking about pure PAIN levels, but that doesn't really matter when you're dealing with an outright phobia.
I KNOW it's not rational, I KNOW it's got nothing to do with the actual pain, or the fear of injury, but please understand that it scares the shit outta me...

Funny thing is though, my "best" experiences with having needles put to me have been when I've imagined some man I trust doing it, when I've closed my eyes and put myself somewhere else, in another situation, with different people..
When I first caught on to this, I didn't really know what to think, and immediately thought of myself as a "fake", I wasn't really afraid of needles, I was just making it up, just as they had told me I always had.

Yet, why did I still experience this extreme anxiety about needles, when I *knew* this was all in my head and I then should be able to control it?

Honest answer is that I'm still working on this, these relationships between rational fear, pain, and the feeling that the right handling and care could make a difference.

And not to mention the fact that while needles is some of the scariest stuff I can imagine, the thought of the right person wielding them or helping me through an experience with them is one of my "favorite" fantasies, if only because of the imagined trust on my part, and the care in return...

Really, the jury is still out on this one..

A large part of My answer is contained in this thread.  http://www.collarchat.com/fb.asp?m=3257145&key=pierce

For Me, needle play is a connection like no other.  The space is entirely different.  It literally is a feeling of euphoria because I really do feel the other person in a way that can't be described as touch.  It is something inside of Me that comes forward to intertwine with the inside of someone else.  It doesn't come from touching the skin or guiding the needle.  It comes from the very center of My chest that reaches out to them.

One thing that absolutely can not be ignored is that needle play, and other forms of play similar to it, completely disprove the theory that the concept of "top space" is the body's natural reaction to physical exertion.  While often compared to runner's high, it is types of play like this, where the top is not doing a lot of physical work, that space is not simply the body's reaction for a top.  I wouldn't even particularly say that it is linked to sadism or not, because some needle bottoms consider the pain aspect to be a very minor one.  It's not a case of Me getting off because I'm hurting them.  It is something different entirely.

it was a limit of mine now it is very erotic. after a flogging to get me centered it is very much a high like no other the fact that my Mistress enjoys it just makes it more enjoyable to me. i dont think i could do it cold without some warmup play. i feel the needle and know its a extension of my Mistress. also surgical staples are fun as well. and they can be played with afterward as well to great effect.

Needle play - It's.. there's something artistic about it.  There's a quiet intimacy in it.  Hmmm... must have a chat with Signore Wonderful...

In my experience, the people who get the most from receiving needles, were once needle phobics.
I never thought I could take needles myself. I had flesh hooks before I had needles which sounds ridiculous. It was the thought of those thin bits of metal going under my skin that made me break out in a cold sweat. I suppose its the same sort of fear as handling a big dog with canine teeth and a small mouse with tiny razor teeth. I could always handle a dog but never a mouse!
When we actually get to the stage of trusting someone so much that we can allow someone to handle our deep phobia, it becomes a huge emotional jump forward. We are doing something that rids us of a fear and for every fear or phobia we rid ourselves of, we find an new inner freedom.

For me, there is something erotic about doing needle play, not pure sexual just erotic which is enjoyable. Added to this, again for me, it is yet another expression of my creativity and artwork similar to hand bigraving a gold or silver plate or machine engraving a piece of crystal glassware with my Celtic Morphic pattern and even with script. More than half of the enjoyment is the actual design work working out how everything will be placed, colours I may choose to use as well as additional media. The actual needle play is absolute pleasure and the sight of the finished work just adds to it. The removal of the needles can be a tad tedious when there are a lot of them but the after care is good as it should be... I guess it is something I have a passion for which has yet to be sated.

Because I love the horrified look in her eyes when I pull those fuckers out of the bag of doom, the sound she makes when I drive them through her lips, the whimpering as I run them through her back and the submissiveness involved in taking it.

Or it could be cuz I'm a sick fuck who likes hurting women.

Shrugs.
Either one works for me.
