I just had to post this in the RI forum, since this questions might seem too stupid to belong in the General Discussion. I wanted to edit a dumb mistake from one of my posts, and then I noticed that I had lost my edit button. I cannot find it for the life of me. Is there some way you can lose your "editing" rights on here, since as far as I know, I have never misbehaved on these forums (although I also lost one complete post in a thread that didn't violate any rules on here as far as I know).

You have about an hour to edit your posts after that the editing ability is gone.

It stops people from going back and editing old posts.

Huh, what the...

I have an edit button on the above message, but not on any other latest forum messages, I better go read a FAQ or two on this forum since I'm confused now.

He's right.

You only get a certain time frame to edit.  As for a pulled post, sometimes the problem is that what you've written, even though it was fine, may have referred to a post that wasn't.  When they yank the offending post, they pull the others as well.  It happens to Me a lot because I tend to quote the person that I'm responding to.  If they pull that, they have to pull Mine, too.

There is also the possibility that it just up and dissapeared.

I had one that was me answering the question in a very simple manner with 5 words.

"Perhaps you could ask him?"

It Dissappeared and no one claimed responsibility for pulling it so I have no idea.

If a post is pulled that is off topic or problematic in some other way, usually all the posts quoting, or responding to, that post are pulled as well.  It is entirely possible that a post was pulled in error, or we missed one that should have been pulled.

Exactly.... The Mods and Admins are People.... People occasional make mistakes... I make more than enough to admit to the idea that we are all falable.

To the OP this is how I handle it.....

Once I make a Post although I own what I say in it... I no longer consider it mine... it belongs to CollarChat and they can do whith it what they like.... Some things they choose to do I don't agree with... but like I said the post is no longer mine.

As for the Edit ability.... I don't know the exact time but I think it is close to an hour from the time your post appears as part of the thread.

Just as long as I'm not in trouble without knowing it, then it's all fine by me. It wasn't really a complaint, more like a worry that maybe I had broken the TOS without knowing (although I have been on numerous forums for numerous years now, and never broken the TOS).

You likely will know if you violated TOS.

It comes in a gold border letter.

You can always send a note to a moderator, link to the thread in question, and ask if you did something wrong.

sometimes, we attack a thread with so much sweetie goonies and salt water taffy that a mod wants to check out our blood sugar levels.....

I've got to admit though, the one hour edit drives me nuts. It isn't uncommon for me to come back to a thread the next day and there it is, a glaring typo I cannot fix.
