Happy Fourth of July weekend all. For those of us in the United States, some of us are getting extra time off, planning picnics, and getting ready for fireworks. For CM, it seems to shine a beacon signaling our summer trolls to have a little extra play time. I feel for the moderators during certain times of the year. This happens to be one of them. There is literally a thread going on about how slaves should act in a chat room. Somewhere close to the two hundred response mark, a Moderator actually came on to remind us to stay on topic. Now, I'm very aware of this particular line from the guidelines to the General BDSM discussion forum: Keep the discussions civil and mature, and do not insult the kinks, preferences, lifestyles, etc. of others. Most of the time, I'm good with that. At the same time, does anyone really expect that I'm going to be able to take that kind of a topic seriously? If someone is ridiculous enough that I would laugh at them in person, how in the world can I pretend that I'm not laughing at them here? Does anybody out there feel like they are successful with not cracking up over some of the stuff that gets posted?

Got to agree with you LP, and these knees are to old to be hitting my wooden floorboards coz i fell off the chair laughing, but i suppose it does save snorting drinks over the keyboard and monitor. [:D]

Agreed. With some of this stuff if we didn't laugh, we'd have to scream. Some people need a reality check very, very badly. I don't see anything wrong with the forum members giving it to them.. and a little humor is supposed to help take the sting out of criticism. I can't imagine us sending a bunch of warm, fuzzy positive reinforcement to someone so clueless they are falling off the floor. Setting them straight is just our version of tough love, right? ;)

I agree. This is the only site I have ever participated in where the mods semi regularly partake in the "festivities." As for the thread that LP referenced at the beginning, the OP is long gone (probably with his tail rightfully between his legs). I'm sure there were some things on that thread I missed since I didn't bother with it specifically for the reasons LP mentioned. Some things are too stupid to waste time on for me. But obviously for many, that kind of post is like open season to make as much fun as they can, and sadly they will target anyone and everyone.

If you read the TOS carefully, it doesn't say you can't laugh at people. You can't say insulting things such as "You are an idiot/moron/dickhead" But you can say that their comment was so stupid you haven't stopped laughing. And a welcome back to the butterscotch one!

Happy 4th if July to you and yours, and I hope Clip is safe and sound. As for your question.... I don't see how anyone can take shit like that seriously. Nor do I see how anyone could expect us to even try, really. Had it been a sincere and respectful question that would be a different matter altogether, but when the OP practically goes out of his way to insult, offend, and condescend - as this man did - why bother? He walked in with attitude, he got attitude back. I've got no sympathy for him, and wouldn't expect anyone to go out of their way to respond to him in a sincere and respectful manner. Some saintly posters did so, and I admire them for it, but I wasn't inclined to bother.
