I don't think that this is a radical suggestion, but you may not even think of this as objectification when you currently do elements of it. One way to incorporate objectification into a normal play scene is to use your sub like a coatrack when you are preparing to play. Have them stand in front of you with their arms outstretched to the side. You can then drape whatever you wish over their arms or body. This is a great way to start play because generally you go through your toy chest and pick out the things that you want to use anyways. However, instead of just taking them out and putting them on the bed or hanging them up, just use the subs body as the place to keep them until you want to use any particular one.

Examples could be:

Fetish gear or clothes that you wish for them to put on

Draping a flogger or whip over their shoulder

Having the sub hold a toy in their mouth or tightly between their thighs or ass cheeks

Hanging clamps or clothespins from the underside of the arms until you are ready to use them

If you have ropes stored in loops rather than wound up in the middle as well, you can hang these around their neck

This can even be incorporated into the play itself by forcing the sub to continue to act as your toy rack as you toy with their body.

If someone could explain this to me id be interested to learn.

I just have trouble seeing why someone would want to date a foot stool.[8|]

jujubeeMB -> RE: Objectification (7/3/2010 4:31:45 PM)

Yeah, what is up with the footstools and hangers? Here's another idea, expanding on the box theme: put her naked in a human-sized box, cut a hole large enough for your...you know...and then stick it in whenever you feel like it. Don't speak to her at all, do it for three hours (put her on a pillow and/or make the box big enough to stretch) and then when you finish, leave her there for another fifteen.

Much more entertaining than a footstool, and objectification guaranteed.

Objectification is a 'two sides of a coin' activity, although the activity could be quite passive in the case of furniture.

Often we think of s-types as existing 'for our pleasure' or 'to make a d-type's life easier'. Having a 'use' simplifies a d-type's life, no matter how mundane. I never knew I needed a coatrack until I had one standing there <jk> This might not make sense for those who believe that wiitwd is all about sex. Last I checked, trying to fuck a lamp could be hazardous to your health. Be that as it may, this side of the coin is all about the d-type.

The other side of the coin is the effects objectification has on the s-type. Being a footstool or a hanger or a table or wearing a suit such that when you look in the mirror you have no face or discernable features can have a strong psychological effect on the subject. It's not that I really want a coatrack; like I said I didn't have one before and didn't miss not having one. But the potential for a truly great mindfuck. It's also potentially dehumanizing, which could be the actual point of it all, or it could be a harmful side-effect depending on the psychological stability of the s-type.

I hope this helps clarify.

Jeff

Don't confuse objectification with inanimate objectification.

Good suggestions, all.  Dreamer,  I looked at your journal, and got some good ideas, thank you.

Andalusite -> RE: Objectification (7/4/2010 4:57:18 PM)

I enjoy objectification linked to artistry, from either side. To some extent, when I am using needles or doing cell popping, I am focusing on my partner as a canvas. I do things in between needles or touches with the dissection probe to connect more with her, and play in other ways and give her other sensations, but a big part of my focus is on the picture I am using her to make. I've also enjoyed being the canvas, or posing in different ways while being beaten. Sometimes I feel objectified in a way that is emotionally disconnected, and that generally makes me feel vulnerable, and I don't like it much. I've also occasionally acted as furniture (either bound or not) and used other people as furniture. I don't see any of those things as humiliating.

txurinal -> RE: Objectification (7/5/2010 12:37:15 PM)

This slave has always considered itself an object. it has been used as a footstool, a doormat, and a spittoon. As one might guess from the screen name, this slave has been trained to be a urinal
