It seems almost like a bad chain letter type of thing, people see it, and think they should put it in their profile, then other people see it and think it's a good idea, put it in their profile.. etc., etc...
Except that what none of the people that do that realize is that the people who would actually care about the message being there, are the same people who would either 1) not be 'stealing' profile pictures or information from a profile in the first place or 2) Would ask if they could use whatever picture or thing in the profile for whatever purpose... People that are just going to use the profile pictures (or profile itself) for something like, making a fake profile, or whatever, are most likely going to just go ahead and do it anyway. (And if they are only using the pictures, it's unlikely they'll even read the profile)
And then, on top of that, I really don't think there are that many people going around taking people's profile pictures/profiles and using them for stuff anyway... I don't doubt there are a few, but, I just can't see it being that many.
