I tend toward what I am saying, she's definitely showing all the signs of having tried meth once.

No, I'm not joking. Maybe she took the other guy's car cause she was afraid of someone else catching up with her in her own car. Also, not everyone thinks that the cops are the go-to guys when you're in trouble. I've also been in a situation where all my clothes were taken from me in an attempt to keep me from leaving. That was a really long time ago, but that's also why I would think that she was trying to escape an abusive situation. Yeah, I know, I've been around. Why do people just assume that women are stupid and do things without rhyme nor reason?

I have to go, this is upsetting.

Well it's pure speculation all round really. We have no idea because we were not there and as much as we'd like to think everyone else in the world acts the way we would in a particular situation this isn't always the case. Occasionally people just act unpredictably and have no excuse for their actions.

I don't really understand the need to rationalise a seemingly crazy event using pure speculation as the tool. If there is a greater truth to this and all is not what it first appears to be then that'll come to light in due course.

I agree, the article doesn't really say why the woman did what she did.  I don't recall any references to meth, either.  It was upsetting to me cause it made me remember a very bad time in my life.  I wasn't upset by what blushie said either.

Occasionally people just act unpredictably and have no excuse for their actions.
Part of me wants to say that that's just flat out untrue, because I'm sure that SHE had her reasons for doing what she did, however, in the end, she was probably acting out of fear and just doing whatever.  At the same time, I guess an abuser has reasons for doing what they do, even though we don't understand them.  They seem like unpredictable and crazy events with no excuses for their actions, but I bet they don't think so.  Regardless, I'm surprised that something that happened so long ago still has the power to impact me thusly.  It was very traumatic.  I have come so far in life.  I am so grateful. I am so blessed.

Around here, and this happened in Utah which is fairly close, meth is a huge problem and this is the exact kind of drama we've learned to expect from the tweaker crowd.

I don't really understand the reasoning behind stealing a car when you already have a stolen car, especially stealing from someone who is going to report it immediately.

Most criminals aren't logical or intelligent.

I'll wait to pass judgement. She'll probably be on here shortly to post how she needs help because her Master made her undress and steal cars while naked.

I didn't get that the first car she was in was stolen, was it?  I don't remember.

Meth is a huge problem in just about every state.  It's made from over the counter drugs.  It does make you go bat shit, but then again, so does crack.  And so does the rest of that shit.  Maybe the horse, not so much.  Except you do still end up stealing shit to support your habit because you're not really employable on that shit, either.  But I don't think it makes you so coo coo for cocoa puffs.  It's the new shit that tears your shit up.

Maybe, she could be schizophrenic and off of her meds. She could have encountered a naturally induced psychotic break that has nothing to do with drugs. People do weird shit for many different reasons, it's really difficult to guess at their motives.

It's really sad that people with mental illness often end up in the judicial system or homeless.

That could refer to the car of the man who reported her and the squad car.

Crap.  I'm sorry to hear that.  I lived in Utah, West Valley City actually (!), from 1983-1989, and it was a clean place.  I had heard that crime had infested it since, and I suppose that meth is a big part of that.  :(

It's not sad they end up in the judicial system, when it's working it is supposed to address the reasons behind the crimes, it is sad that mental health treatment in our country is completely underfunded and the majority of these people get no help from "the system".

That's what I meant.  I agree that if someone with mental illness ends up in the justice system, the justice system ought to be able to recognize that and deal with it accordingly and appropriately.

I hope her body is better looking than her face! Otherwise, I pity those poor cops.

Take a good look at those eyes. She looks like a doper.

Her eyes look vacant. Which could be from drugs, but could also be from a mental illness.
