This is probably due to an elastic rebound quake

Yes,  we definitely felt it here in Ottawa. Felt like someone was behind me shaking my chair while rolling it slightly.

Yup felt it here...a bit of shaking and then one strong sharp jolt followed by gentle tremors fading into nothing.

The first quake I felt in my building made me sick for hours... the building swayed so badly that the pictures were swinging back and forth. I got into a doorway that is cement surrounded... it just was swinging back and forth like a pendulum... Living high up is nice most of the time, but not in a quake

A 5.0 is a nice size earthquake. Big enough to give you a ride worth noticing, not big enough to create massive destruction. Really though, it's the fun of watching people who've never felt one, as they get completely freaked out by it.

Oh I don't live high. I live in a 3rd/top story flat. But I work in a high rise. I was fine. It actually felt like turbulence in a plane, which I'm quite used to.

We even got the vibrations here in Detroit! Always surprising, these shakers.

I live 8 stories up... in a historical building.... 5.5 was enough for me to catch my breath and hope is was going to stop soon

Probably the effect of all those Americans emigrating to Canada that I hear about, their sheer weight of numbers has stressed out the land near the border.

The question is, will Canada tip up with all that weight and sink.

I didnt feel it, I was outside in the yard doing some gardening. My neighbor came out of his house and asked what was going on, he was a bit freaked out. He felt it and at work some folks felt it as lamps moving and the like. We thought maybe the G20 was blowing up hehe.

I totally felt nothing.

The Brits are pretty chunky too....lol...everyone knows the Island you all live on is sinking because of the weight.... hell, that is why you guys had to colonize other parts of the world! Is it our fault you sent your gene pool over here?
