nobody has said they are in favour of popping on this thread. drugs are icky.[:'(]

This be very true just as no where did I state, refer to or even infer that anyone has said they were in favour. I made a clear, concise and simple statement of my opinion and ruling regarding of any drugs on my patch.

if memory serves, poppers began gaining strength in the male gay community in the 90's or so.

Jeff

I'm thinking yes. And they can also cause neurological damage. No poppers or any other drugs/mind-altering substances for me!

Amyl nitrate

Jeff

p.s. I would 'just say no'.

Actually they are amyl nitrite, not amyl nitrate, I did them with a lot of my gay male friends in college, it was fun. However....I am not advocating them now as a mture and responsible adult. [;)].

Aynne, that is exactly what I thought, gay bars about 15-20 years ago for me, though I only did them once or twice as they gave me a nasty headache!

Give poppers to someone with migraines and you'll soon have them writhing in pain.  It's a vasodilator.

I'm not that much of a sadist. thats just cruel.

I dated a guy who did that, though I didn't know it was called poppers.  I tried it, all it did was give me a headache too.

He said it made his orgasms better.....all I noticed is his having to stop so many times during sex to sniff at his little vial.  Didn't do a thing for me, but make me want to shove it up his nose, so he didn't have to stop so often and could keep up a good steady pace.

I don't see the appeal.  I usually take things to get rid of a headache.  Not seek out stuff to give me one.  People are weird.

I'm surprised you can still buy that stuff...I did that when I was in high school, got way too dizy and felt like my heart was going to explode, the "high" wasn't worth the feeling of my heart comming out my chest. Didn't really notice the stiff-o thing, but then again I was 16 or 17 so I already was walking around with one all the time.

Kind of thought by now that some one watching out for my best interest and safety would have outlawed or got the stuff of the market.

My understanding was that they aren't used on the gay scene to get you hard, they are used to help you...relax, shall we say...

Chronic exposure to Amyl Nitrate also depresses the T cell count and makes on much more succeptible to viral and bacterial infection.

Ok, I'm going to display my ignorance now -- is this the same stuff as they used to call "Locker Room" back in the 70's?
