Holy shit. This just gets more and more horrendous. It's not 1,000 barrels a day, or 5,000 as BP first tried to tell everyone.

It's not 12,000 - 19,000, or even the 20,000 - 40,000 the government told us last week.

It's between 35,000 and 60,000 barrels a day. That means this is just days away from being the second largest oil spill in history, and by the time the relief wells are ready, it may be the largest.

NPR did some interviews last week indicating this was coming. It's ALREADY the largest oil spill.

"The spill now dwarfs the 11 million gallons that were dumped into Alaska's Prince William Sound in 1989 when the tanker Exxon Valdez ran aground, and oil in varying amounts and consistencies has hit the shores of Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama and Florida."

Exxon Valdez was just the largest spill in American history. The largest overall was the Gulf War Spill, at around 230,000,000 - 460,000,000 gallons. Second largest was Ixtoc I, at about 140,000,000 to 147,000,000. We're apparently at around 137,000,000 gallons and counting now, and no end in sight for months.

You'd think, with all this oil, they'd be begging for people to come clean up down there, but I've looked for places, as I can go anywhere, at anytime as my current income just requires an internet connection, and would love to help in the clean-up, but alas, there is no real organization on that front either, at least I haven't found any.

edited because thought I stated room and board in my original post guess, not... hehe. sorry, a bit.

You know, I did look it up, but everything is getting on a list, and waiting for a call back, and most of the easy to "VOLUNTEER" positions won't pay for room and board, as in sure I could drive there and pay for my own hotel, and then show up to a completely non-paying position, but I'm not fucking rich, as I said in my post I'd need room and board.

It's more difficult to get a position that would just pay for room and board, and such. Yeah, I'd do that, but I'm not going to spend 100's a week out of my pocket to stay in a hotel, either.
