Daddysredhead -> Hair color study (6/14/2010 6:04:17 AM)

Interesting...

I especially liked this part about us "Scarlet O'Hair-a" types:

Stock up on condoms: Redheads make red-hot lovers, or so the stereotype goes. One thing's for sure: They get a lot more action, according to one study. This might be due to a self-fulfilling prophecy, says Kogan. "Red is associated with fire, and fire is associated with passion," she says. "Often, you become what people expect of you." Something others are eager to try: Recent Clairol research shows nearly 40 percent of people said they'd go scarlet for a day if they could.

MissAsylum -> RE: Hair color study (6/14/2010 7:39:03 AM)

i read that this morning!

i'm also a natural redhead but then i dyed it a scarlett red...i have to wonder though....were they really right about the self fulfilling prophecy thing?

i wasn't promiscuous when i was younger, but i did get the nicknames "hot commodity" and "hot ass" from my classmates. [8|]

I LOVE my natural red-head; and I'm happy to report she lives up to ALL the stereotypes! I'm sure beth will be posting in a minute or two to document the other aspects of being red headed, such as the red-heads reaction to pain as well as the need for more anesthetic.

Somehow, and unfortunately, for the first 45 years of my life I was ignorant of the 'redhead' persona and stereotype. Had I know - I would have sought them out exclusively. If beth's sexuality, passion for life and hot exciting nature are indicative of all redheads - everyone should try to enjoy that experience at least once in their life. Although beth would deny it, she does have the hot emotional red head 'demon' within her. I observe it coming out in her with some people, and especially in her 'puppy training'.

Unfortunately, they are a rare species and the persona comes from genes and not 'Clairol'.

BTW - According to her research 'red-heads' are an endangered species. Forget the whales - 'SAVE THE RED-HEADS!" [sm=preen.gif]

Reposted from a previous Red-Head-Thread:

Ever heard the term “redheaded step-child” used in a positive association? ...“Ill beat you like a redheaded stepchild”... This phrase was born out of the American south and implies the status of illegitimate offspring with a white master.

One of our favorite shows, South Park, included in their episode about “Gingers” the stereotypes that red-headed kids are just plain weird and “without souls”.

At St. Paul’s cathedral in London, figurines tell the story of the fall in the Garden of Eden. Adam points one hand to the forbidden fruit and the other to a golden haired Eve. Then the arch angel drives them from the garden. Adam with his fig leaf loops his arm around Eve who is now cowering and sporting a main of long red hair.

Similarly in the paintings of the Sistine Chapel in 1874, Michelangelo’s Temptation depicts a brown haired Eve being handed a red apple by a red headed bare breasted serpent woman (Satan manifested as woman of course carries red hair). In the adjacent fresco Eve is thrown out of the garden with a shameful face and a twist of red hair.

Eves’ red hair is seen as the stain of sin like the original scarlet letter. Later her son, Cain, will bear the red hair and also a fall from grace.

Belief that redheads are witches is a folk belief in Germanic culture. From 1483-1784 thousands of suspected witches were nearly always stripped and searched for “marks of the devil”. These included any “abnormality” such as freckles, moles, warts, and birthmarks. Red hair was certainly considered an abnormality. Considering the freckle factor for redheads this was a deadly and shocking horror. Somewhere around 45,000 women were tortured and murdered usually by burning at the stake or by drowning.

In central Africa’s Cameroon redheaded albinos, called Nguenguerous, are believed also to come by this color by menstrual intercourse. The UN and other world organizations have studied and advocated for their rights as there have been allegations of the ritual murders in some regions of Africa.

Personally, this slave has met people who ranged from wanting to have nothing to do with her, BASED on her hair color and the belief of negative stereotypes associated with it to folks who just wanted to get down her pants to see if it was “true what they say about redheads, y’know, red-on-the-head-fire-in-the-hole???” to folks with a serial redhead FETISH.

Redheaded Woman- Bruce Springsteen

Well, brunettes are fine, man
Blondes are fun
But, when it comes to getting the dirty job done,
I'll take a red-headed woman, a red-headed woman.
It takes a red-headed woman to get a dirty job done.

Well, listen up, stud,
Your life's been wasted
'til you've got' down on your knees and tasted
A red-headed woman, a red-headed woman.
It takes a red-headed woman to get a dirty job done.

Tight skirt, strawberry hair
Tell me what you've got, baby, waiting under there.
Big green eyes that look like, son,
They can see every cheap thing that you ever done.

Well, I don't know how many girls you dated, man
You ain't lived 'til you've had your tires rotated
By a red-headed woman, a red-headed woman.
It takes a red-headed woman to get a dirty job done.

LadyHibiscus -> RE: Hair color study (6/14/2010 9:29:17 AM)

woohoooo!

myotherself -> RE: Hair color study (6/14/2010 9:41:26 AM)

What a weird coincidence!

I'm a natural brunette with grey (ahem) highlights...and yesterday I tried a new hair colour. It was supposed to be dark brown, but has turned out to be dark brown with loads of red in it.

Today, I feel sexy, confident and I've had two compliments already!

I'm sticking with red from now on [:D]

Daddysredhead -> RE: Hair color study (6/14/2010 11:39:31 AM)

Well, your bunny photo is a strawberry blonde, so I think it's only accurate. Wanna be a Scarlet O' "Hare"? [:D]

DesFIP -> RE: Hair color study (6/14/2010 12:59:57 PM)

I was naturally auburn when young but personally I don't want to have sex with redheads or blonds. I like my men dark haired. I guess I'm the only one who gets to be tempermental here.

myotherself -> RE: Hair color study (6/14/2010 2:43:19 PM)

Oooooh ---- can I? [:D] [:D]

*gives bunny bounce of red-headed joy*

kallisto -> RE: Hair color study (6/14/2010 5:20:14 PM)

I love my auburn hair ... of course I'd never tell anyone that I have to "supplement" it now. [:)] It fits me. [:)]

UniqueRaven -> RE: Hair color study (6/14/2010 5:28:20 PM)

i have naturally deep auburn hair - i do go a slight bit redder now that my time of life for "enhancing" it is upon me - hee hee!

i will say about the blonde streak in my hair - i'm one of those women who has grey hair growing in in one streak, which is where i've dyed it blonde. Someday i won't dye it blonde anymore and i'll be one of those older women with a mane of dark hair with a natural grey streak. i think it will be pretty cool! i'm just not ready to embrace it yet.

i jokingly call my blonde streak my "mid-life crisis." [:D]
