Boehner has always been a scumbag.

He was a scumbag when he was a state representative and became more of a scumbag as he moved into national politics and gained power.

Now he and the GOP are furiously trying to do damage control, because what he said wasn't really what he said.

Late update: Boehner spokesman Michael Steel emails to say "Boehner made a general statement about who is responsible for the spill, and the federal government oversight was clearly lacking, but he has said repeatedly that BP is responsible for the cost of the cleanup."

I have little doubt though that the taxpayers will be on the hook for a large percentage of it.

Who is paying for the Coast Guard's efforts in this?

I think the taxpayers should pay for the clean up but only those who own stock in bp[8|]
