Owner59 -> Super Tuesday kinda.... (6/7/2010 10:43:41 PM)

There`s a lot of primary races to be won and lost today. And quite a few possible run-offs.

We`ll see if all the smoke is from real fires or just smoke machines payed for by Dick Armey`s corporate buddies.

It`ll be an exciting day.

willbeurdaddy -> RE: Super Tuesday kinda.... (6/7/2010 11:33:32 PM)

meh. Tomorrow is far less important than Wednesday when head to head polls start being taken. Races between Teapartiers, Rinos and Republicans or whatever shade of pink is running against each other for the Dems doesnt mean a whole lot.

pahunkboy -> RE: Super Tuesday kinda.... (6/8/2010 10:29:49 AM)

Alex says that incubants are being voted out.   It does not matter which party- people are done with DC.

tazzygirl -> RE: Super Tuesday kinda.... (6/8/2010 11:09:56 AM)

Alex has an inside line to votes that have not been cast yet? Interesting. What shade is his crystal ball?

pahunkboy -> RE: Super Tuesday kinda.... (6/8/2010 11:42:34 AM)

So Tazz,  for 2010 the incubants who won are whom?

tazzygirl -> RE: Super Tuesday kinda.... (6/8/2010 1:48:41 PM)

Im making no predictions, unlike you and Alex. But lets look at some facts.

quote:

The United States gubernatorial elections will be held on Tuesday, November 2, 2010 in 37 states and two territories. Of the 39 elections total to be held, currently 20 seats are held by Democratic incumbents and 19 by Republican incumbents.

Of the Democratic held governorships up for election in 2010, 8 are held by incumbents who are term-limited, while 4 others are voluntarily choosing not to seek election or re-election.[1] Of the Republican held governorships up for election in 2010, 8 are held by incumbents who are term-limited, while 4 others are voluntarily choosing not to seek re-election.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_gubernatorial_elections,_2010

Thats 24 seats that will not go to an incumbent. !5 are left.

Elections to the United States Senate are scheduled to be held on November 2, 2010, for 36 of the 100 seats in the United States Senate. A special election for a 37th seat was held in Massachusetts on January 19, 2010, for a term that ends in January 2013.

........

After the 2008 elections and their subsequent events, the Senate is composed of 57 Democrats, 41 Republicans, and two independents who caucus with the Democrats. Of the remaining seats currently up for election in 2010, 18 are held by Democrats (6 of whom are retiring) and 18 are held by Republicans (7 of whom are retiring).

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_Senate_elections,_2010

15 seats that wont be going to incumbents.

The 2010 United States House of Representatives elections will be held on November 2, 2010, halfway through President Barack Obama's first term in office. Elections will be held for all 435 seats, representing the 50 U.S. states. Elections also will be held for the delegates from the District of Columbia and four of the five major U.S. territories. The only seat in the United States House of Representatives not up for election is that of the Resident Commissioner of Puerto Rico, who serves a four-year term and will next face election in 2012.

37 U.S. Representatives will retire at the end of their current term and 5 vacancies will be filled by special elections before November.

Retiring Democrats (17 incumbents)

Retiring Republicans (20 incumbents)

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_House_of_Representatives_elections,_2010

Now, considering how all these seats are up for grabs without an incumbent, its pretty easy to say... "yep, the incumbents will lose a majority of their seats". They gave them up or served the ability of the term limit.

Take out those seats and lets see how the imcumbents do.

Havent you been proven wrong enough today?

PA kicked out the incumbant.   YAY.

tazzygirl -> RE: Super Tuesday kinda.... (6/8/2010 2:28:46 PM)

incumbEnt. learn to spell it, please, especially since you used the correct spelling in one of your previous posts.

NC kept incumbent Burr. Ohio kept Fisher. Not sure what your point is here.

alwayssummer -> RE: Super Tuesday kinda.... (6/8/2010 2:45:02 PM)

It's not just about the Tea Party today.  The Dems who care about real health care reform and putting some actual teeth in the Banking Bill have worked, contributed  and are rooting for  Halter to defeat DINO Lincoln in Arkansas and Marcie Winogrand to retire that nasty old BattleAx in L.A.'s South Bay. It's downright awesome.

servantforuse -> RE: Super Tuesday kinda.... (6/8/2010 6:22:49 PM)

Bill Clinton and Obama campained heavily for Mary Landrieu in AK. If she looses this primary it will be bad news for the current administration. Barry will be 0 for 6..

tazzygirl -> RE: Super Tuesday kinda.... (6/8/2010 8:04:45 PM)

Lincoln wins. Incumbent, right?

tazzygirl -> RE: Super Tuesday kinda.... (6/8/2010 8:17:20 PM)

Gibbons defeated in Nevada gov race.

TheHeretic -> RE: Super Tuesday kinda.... (6/8/2010 8:17:21 PM)

Yeah. Fires are always at their worst in the spring, before we have a long hot summer...

The headline I saw somewhere today called this, the angry peak of the tea party. What dumbass thought that talking point was a good idea?

Brain -> RE: Super Tuesday kinda.... (6/8/2010 9:35:07 PM)

I’m looking forward to some progressive victories and right wing Tea Party people winning.
This article is relatively benign. The article may explain the recent Sestak and Romanoff uproar. Although this kind of trading and maneuvering has been part of political strategy for decades it has never really been much of an issue till now because it was pretty much been kept inside the party circles.

Primaries from Calif. to SC measure voter anger - Yahoo! News

LOS ANGELES – How angry are Americans? People primed for change vote in 12 states Tuesday in contests that will decide the fate of two endangered Washington incumbents — a two-term senator in Arkansas and a six-term congressman in South Carolina — while setting the stage for some of the races that could determine the balance of power on Capitol Hill in the fall.
