I have this stuff that you put on your skin to keep the oil away.

Guess what your skin does when kept dry?
That's right. The levees broke and my poor pores were flooded with what looks like the drippings in the bottom of a family bucket of KFC Original chicken.

Seriously. This is not cool. I know you guys are probably all laughing right now, but I rest a great deal of my self-worth on my appearance. Man, I can't wait to be a big kid :/

I remember when I was a young lad and the acne covered my facial scales.

Jessica Simpson wasn't peddling Pro-Active Solutions back in my day, I assure you!

I was laughed at many a time... and many a throat was slashed.

I sympathize, Glasgow. It sounds like the product you used is much too harsh for your skin. A couple of my friends use Pro-Active and have good results. Neutrogena also has a new skin care line for acne and oily skin,

I use several Neutrogena products as my skin is both oily and sensitive and has an allergic to fragrance on the face. But so far I have not tried these new products. You may want to consult a dermatologist too.

To keep your skin from producing more oil to combat dryness, you need to use an oil-free moisturizer.  For best results, put it on after you wash your face.

Thanks guys :) I obviously stopped using the stuff, and thankfully I've returned to my normal equilibrium. Your advice has all been noted.

One more thing if you can stand the overkill. My 2 sons did really well on a low dosage antibiotic, their dr prescribed it and it worked wonders on the skin - doxycycline. They're both around your age and have been taking it for about a year now. It's just hell to have skin problems and if you can get help for it then it does amazingly good things for self confidence.

Isomers Australian Harvest products are divine.

One thing I've noticed from watching other people:

When you (generic) start with a new product your skin often goes awesome and then terrible-if you keep going it may well even out to normal, but from what I've seen people who ricochet from one product to another every five seconds tend not to get past that 'really crappy' stage-your skin needs to adjust to the amount of oil you are stripping off/adding on.

When you try a new product you might want to give yourself a while to see if it actually works in the long term.

(Disclaimer: this isn't something I have personal experience of, I've just watched and talked to a *lot* of people-I'd often get questions about what products I used when I was younger because I had clear skin).
