1. For the first time, the percentage of Americans who perceive “gay and lesbian relations” as morally acceptable has crossed the 50 percent mark. (You have to love the fact that they still use the word “relations.” So quaint.) 2. Also for the first time, the percentage of men who hold that view is greater than the percentage of women who do. 3. This new alignment is being led by a dramatic change in attitudes among younger men, but older men’s perceptions also have eclipsed older women’s. While women’s views have stayed about the same over the past four years, the percentage of men ages 18 to 49 who perceived these “relations” as morally acceptable rose by 48 percent, and among men over 50, it rose by 26 percent. I warned you: stunning./snip

Change in entrenched attitudes takes time and not to be too blunt about it takes the dying off of the older generations and their value systems for new moralities to be acceptable within a community.

The only thing that irks me about gay men is the way they act like an extremely feminine woman. I have seen gay women act more butch than most men i know. It goes both ways and seems pretty silly to me.

Wtf? Stereotype much?

I have several very successful professional collegues who are gay. You wouldn't know it except for the fact that they are honest about it and open. I think maybe you need to stop watching so much tv, not all gay people act in any one way, other than sexual preference.

I'm going to go ahead and credit this to the tireless efforts of the quickie BJ crew on craigslist. Well done, men. Well done.

Don't forget various organized religions! Even though it's not once mentioned in the New Testament, it's just kind of assumed that Jeebus is against homosexuality. Why? Well...why not?

If it wasn't for gay men we would still all be walking around smelling like pigs.
We still all be dressing and dancing like our Dads, and the most important thing about fashion would be a parka.
I was in the Marines where there were a lot of gay men and none of them were effeminate or camp, just bloody good people.
A person should not be defined by their sexuality, if you define people by their sexuality you are missing the greater part of the picture.
What "society" thinks is horseshit, there is no society, just you and me and I think gay, bisexual, fetish, whatever, everybody has to be respected, or not respected, for who they are and how they are with me.

You can tell, but it takes a hell of alot of perception, and at least some [verbal] intercourse. I will not say how for two reasons. For one it really doesn't matter. The other reason is that there are certain secrets I just won't tell.

Another good reason is that it is not my job to out them. That is their decision if and when they are ready. Their reasons are their own, it could range from embarrassment to not wanting to be ostricized at the golf club. I don't care why, it is their life. So why would I even be inclined to tell anyone how to discern this ? And believe me, it is not always that easy, it may take some time. Why waste it ?

To discriminate against Gays is about the same thing as racial discrimination, something in which I refuse to engage except for personal preference. I don't like Oriental girls. Nothing wrong with them but they just don't turn me on. As such, since I am not Gay, I would not choose a Gay male for a partner. Well maybe in business, as long as he understands the color green like I do. But you know what I mean.

But as far as how to tell, I will say two things. That lisp is not proof, and those hand motions people do to emulate a Gay guy is not proof. It has nothing to do with it. Perhaps I get to know someone and figure it out, if they don't mention it to me I won't mention it to them, let alone anyone else.

Learning to accept people despite their differences is something that took me a long time, and I ain't giving up now. But it's all the same, Gay/Straight, Black/White, doesn't matter. The only real exception I might make is if I need a homemade bomb I might have to go find a guy named Achmed LOL.

I think that some gay people will actually be sad when the "statistics" show 95% percent acceptance by all parts of society. Then they'll have to find something else to be dramatic about.

No one really cares that you're gay.

I wandered through an outdoor gay event in Asbury Park yesterday. There were no protests, violence or confrontations of any kind....just a shitload of dudes and chicks dressed funny (skin tight leather shorts, pants, hats and vests) walking around drinking and listening to disco music.

The vocal minority that spouts hatred towards gays is just that....a vocal minority.

I agree with your statement but it is worth noting that a fair percentage of the homosexual community define themselves that way. I don't think I have ever defined myself as a straight male except within the confines of a strictly sexual discussion. I don't have a Straight Pride flag bumper sticker on my car. I don't wave my heterosexuality around like a banner. I don't feel the need to advertisement my sexual orientation and I really don't see why anyone else has that need.

Hey!  I don't even own a spice rack!

Okay, my partner does have pretty much every spice known to mankind, but they aren't in any kind of order at all.  I have no idea how he always manages to find them.  LOL

Then you should have qualified it with "some". Look at what you wrote

Is it your experience no gay man exhibits the characteristics i described? That no gay women come off as butch? I know plently in both group who do not.. and plenty who do. I was not talking about all gay men.. or all gay women... i was talking about gay men who act extremely feminine... and gay women who act extremely butch.

Seemed pretty clear to me.
