OK, so I've been gone from the boards for awhile. What's up with the points?

Welcome back, Erin!

The points thing started, I believe, with a poster named NihilusZero. He'd award points if someone said something that struck him as worthwhile. This sparked something of a craze, and people began putting their NZ point totals in their sig files. Now and then, NZ would do a tally of who had scored how many points.

During the heydey of point-mania, fluffypet began awarding points in Random Stupidity threads, generally when someone had said something kind. I like to think she was gently mocking the whole points cult, but I don't know this for sure.

LOL! I think that was the idea.

In case you couldn't tell, I kinda rolled my eyes at the whole phenomenon. It amazed me that grown people placed so much stock in points awared by strangers on the Internet.

Fluffy's in the hospital at the moment, so I don't think point-giving is her top priority.

I never got that part either. It was too bizarre! The day I rack up points for anything is the day I put on a sheeple robe. But I gotta admit I love the idea of fuzzy points. :) strikes me as being sublimely ludicrous. I hope she gets better soon.

I have fluffy points that I'll share with you all. The best thing about fluffy points is, the more you give/share, the more you end up having.

Kind of like that whole what you give, is what you get, times 10.

Fluffy points are a lot like the proverbial "brownie" points.  I <3 my Fluffy points.  It's nice to know I've made someone's day a little brighter or made them smile.
