DommeKeliDallas -> OLD TIME DOMMES (5/27/2010 8:31:49 PM)

I have been into the BDSM lifestyle almost all of my life.
A lot of other "old time" Dommes are now out of the scene and on to other projects with no desire to dominate anyone.

I LOVE CBT, kinky contacts, caning, spanking, and all of the other pleasures BDSM affords me.

I am so terribly jaded, that normal relationships bore me.
I thrive on CONTROL...especially with HOT, older wealthy men...the more powerful the BETTER.

I womder if there are any  other "old time" Dommes who feel the same way.

By "old time", I an talking about over 25 years.
Thanks.

LadyAngelika -> RE: OLD TIME DOMMES (5/27/2010 8:36:35 PM)

Congratulations.

I'm not an old time Domme. I am however an experienced Domme. I am also in control of my life and my destiny which is very useful for avoiding being jaded.

What confuses me a little is that the term "domme" dates back to the AOL influx of the 1990's, and wasn't in common use 25 years ago or even 20 years ago. Nothing wrong with picking up new words, but it's a bit odd to see an "old timer" identifying this way.

LadyPact -> RE: OLD TIME DOMMES (5/27/2010 8:50:02 PM)

If people felt the same way, meaning they wanted to get out of participating in BDSM, why would they be here?

IronBear -> RE: OLD TIME DOMMES (5/27/2010 10:03:14 PM)

I know several "Old Time Dommies" who simply have no interest n mingling in a back stabbing, bitching, flaming crowd (I quote two of them in reference to our local scene). Also too they found as I have, the modern scene (local to me) whilst may be reasonable to mix with, doesn't really want you unless you have your own sub/slave as they appear to want fresh juicy young meat. Probably isn't like that everywhere but we can only speak of the areas we know. As an added thought, it is the same in the Pagan crowd too. I am one of a number of Pagan Old Farts (as in years experience in that scene) who are shunned with the modern young want it and want it now with out being prepared for the years of study and practice under the guidance of elders who have the knowledge and experience. Many have simply closed their door and work or mix with long time friends in the craft. I leave my door open a tad for a genuine student who is prepared to meet my criteria after getting tired of being told when Neets and I attended umpteen Pagan at the Pub or Pagan in the Park meets and get together, that I was too old and wasn't welcome as I was never part of the local (Queensland) scene. This a parallel to what I originally experienced and still experience in the majority of the local BDSM scene.

LadyHibiscus -> RE: OLD TIME DOMMES (5/27/2010 11:14:51 PM)

I am a very experienced female dominant. And I have to say that a man's personality is way more interesting to me than his bank account. I don't care how much wealth or social position he has, if he is a bore or an asshole, he can find someone else.

I am going to chime in her with just a few words, long before unlimited access AOl served a vastly different purpose. $1,500.00 a month phone bills were not uncommon and people actually meet on a regular bases (Bashes) so when speaking negatively about AOl remember it was the foundation and few were there before unlimited access.
As to the word domme, coined during a TESS meeting and at the time meant ony to distinguish the male dominant from the female dominant.

Iron Bear, I have neither the benefit of your age nor wisdom but feel it important to say, skill and expertise are the product of time and energies investment and both skill and expertise should be the ultimate goal in everything we do regardless of submission or dominance. Indeed those who find you unwelcome have far to well filled themselves with themselves.

DesFIP -> RE: OLD TIME DOMMES (5/28/2010 4:08:59 AM)

I'm curious about the op's assessment that anyone out of the public scene is no longer interested in having the power in their relationship. Maybe they've just stopped doing public play and are happier staying at home with their sub and wearing bunny slippers instead of boots?

Some of us elderly subs prefer to be at home and comfortable also.

allthatjaz -> RE: OLD TIME DOMMES (5/28/2010 6:44:59 AM)

Like others here have said, I'm not interested in bank accounts. When I pro Mistressed I took money but now I have no interest in the power and wealth of a guy.

I have dominated for a long time but I have never become jaded. My dominance has allowed me to have some healthy and lengthy relationships.

I'm sorry but your post sounds like an advert for a wealthy man [8|]

DommeKeliDallas -> RE: OLD TIME DOMMES (5/28/2010 8:53:58 AM)

I have been a Domme for well over 25 years.
My question was about "OLD TIME DOMMES."

I am not interested in  DO-ME men.
In my experience, professional men are more respectful.
MY EXPERIENCE is not everyones.

LuckyAlbatross -> RE: OLD TIME DOMMES (5/28/2010 9:15:49 AM)

LOL LNT that's exactly where my head went as well.  Wouldn't old time "dommes" not use the term "dommes?"  I know this new time dom doesn't.

I would be seriously interested in hearing more about the history of where the term was coined.  Do you have any further documentation or references?  The only solid history I'm aware of for this word dates back to references on Usenet as to how the new term was coined on the AOL chat rooms, the users of which deluged Usenet en masse with significant resulting culture shock in the early 1990's.

LadyHibiscus -> RE: OLD TIME DOMMES (5/28/2010 10:44:43 AM)

When I was a pro dominant, I saw men from all walks of life, from college students to college professors. I have to say that the blue-collar types were every bit as respectful as a person could wish. Behaving courteously is a matter of how one was raised, not how much money one has. Have you seen the trailers for the Food Channel show about private chefs? Wealth and privilege breed a sense of ENTITLEMENT these days.

LNT, if you are on Fetlife, there is a whole thread on the origins! Let me know on the other side, I can link you!

mummyman321 -> RE: OLD TIME DOMMES (5/28/2010 12:45:04 PM)

The word Domme certainly did not originate from AOL or the influx of AOL people getting on the internet. Domme was commonly used before the internet existed. I still have catalogs for leather & latex clothing, and correspondense magizines from late 70's and early 80's and Domme was used back then.

As to the OP: I think people as they get older, they move on with their lives. Life gets busy and we forget to slow down and appreciate the small things. I envy the person or Domme who still acts like a kids inside. Never grow up :). I refuse to!

Not to deviate off topic by my earliest reference for the word Domme comes from Bettie Page. She modeled for Irving Klaw from 1952 to 1957 doing bondage scenes. I happed to have several of the photo shoots. The words Dominatrix, Dominant Damsel and Domme were all used in the titles and comments.

I'm curious, what about it unusual for you?

AnimusRex -> RE: OLD TIME DOMMES (5/28/2010 7:48:16 PM)

My sarcasm didn't read very well, I'm afraid.

"Normal" relationships bore her, so she wants to service hot, wealthy older men? Is this a particularly unusual and freakish desire?
If one is a hot, older, wealthy man, one will have a line around the block of men and women hoping to service him.

Fuck that "hot" part. E. Howard Marshall looked like the G-D cryptkeeper, and he had a Playboy model changing his Depends.

On reflection, maybe I am being snarky here. I suppose what triggered my reflex was the original post had the "Olde Domme Houses of Europe" quality to it.
