I believe that there is a correlation between excessive tatts and abuse...Same goes for piercings.

I have learned much in this walk through life. I am deep. I am a wealth of knowledge. I'm every woman it's all in me anything you want done baby I do it naturally.

There is the whole tatts are cool thang, which makes you a dope....It's not the tatt that makes the man it's the length of his mandal.

I don't have a tattoo, and don't particularly like them, but I have regularly considered getting a small tattoo for one main reason: a distinctive tattoo it makes it much easier to identify a dead body. That way, the authorities might be able to inform the relatives in a reasonable period of time.

4 out of 5 morticians agree: a tattoo makes their job a heck of a lot easier.  In fact, if a body with a tattoo comes in the whole autopsy is now handled by interns.

LOL I might be defensive more than normal right now having moved from st louis to a town of 3000 so sorry if I was pissy.... on the dead body thing I could have none and be identified 13 screws in my shoulder and 2 plates talk about body modifacation!

the Tat on my left arm that is seen in my profile pic is the birth of my daughter.. I have a mobious strip with a tribal design on my back that I designed because the mobious strip is the symbol for forever, it is directly over where i broke my back when I was 16, I am forever survivng things I shouldnt have... the rose on my arm with 2 drops of blood reminds me that everything beautiful everything worth while is worth the pain you go thru , 2 drops of blood for my daughters:) the words 'A Priori Mea Culpa" means forgive the past..something everyone should do. I forgive the past transgressions that were done to me and I forgive myself for those I have done.. it will also serve to remind me to forgive th future ones...I have an anarachy sign on my neck done in purple and blue, my best friend had the same tat but done in red and black, he died in 9/11 and I got it to remember him by, blue and purple for hope and peace. I have a dragon on my chest for my youngest daughter.... this is just an example of the meanings for mine. aside from the words on my wrist all of mine can be covered by a t shirt. Every generation has something that they use as a "symbol" of rebelllion. I find it funny that body modifaction is "gen x" and yet has been around for in some cases thousands of years

you're right- i find the shock over body mods and it being a GenX thing hilarious. my mum saw me as trying to rebel by gauging my ears to 2g's and getting my first tattoo of "oderint dum metuant"("let them hate, so long as they fear" in latin) on my ribcage. granted i was 18 and no longer living with her lol. but anyway, body modification is an art form to me. pircing things besides the ears and many tattoos are nothing new, so it amazes me when people act like they are.

Yes, growing up, the only ones I ever saw were on military guys. Yet my first Dom/husband was career military and he didn't have a single one. All my kids have them. I made them wait until they were 18 to get them. My daughter has one, one son has 2 and the other one has 3. All of them have a special meaning to each one, all done very tastefully (imo) and all can be covered up if the situation calls for it. I do think it's their generation that is definitely more accepting of body mods. Although I've toyed around with wanting one for years. But .. have not done it .... as of yet.

I have some. I like the way they look on some people, but there is a limit. What exactly the limit is, I don't know, but it's like the old quote about pornography, "I know it when I see it." I mean, someone could have a million tattoos, but the placing, the coloring, the actual tattoos themselves may look great on one person, but make someone else look like a circus freak. That lady that was all tattooed up that had an affair with Sandra Bullocks hubby, I thought she looked hot. The guy that got his bald head tattooed like it was a New England Patriots football helmet....decidely stupid. It's the rare person that looks good with tat's on their faces or neck.

I'm thankful for a couple of things about the ones I have. First, I am glad that I kept them for the most part very discrete, you can only see one of mine when I wear a short sleeve shirt, two if I also wear a pair of shorts. Second, I am glad I didn't get anything I regret like some people I know. The one on my right leg isn't very well done, but it isn't bizzare.

My advice to anyone would be generally, don't bother, but if you are going to, try to put yourself 30 years down the road before you decide what's actually going on you, and wear it's going.
