i'm not sure if this is the right forum for this or not, but....
i got a cmail from Someone today, which i answered and, then, less than two minutes later my Yahoo Messenger was asking me if He could add me to His list as sweetsub (that's not my outside IM addy but an alternate ID). Of course i said "No" as i had not given Him my IM addy. i cmailed Him back and asked HOW He'd gotten my addy, and He said through collarme, which made sense since that's what i call myself here. Now, i have NEVER put my personal e-mail/IM addy on my profile....EVER. AND i know i had NEVER written to Him before either. He continued to insist i had, citing all sorts of incorrect information to try and prove it. What i don't understand is how He connected sweetsub with my correct Yahoo IM addy, to ask to be on my list. Now this has happened to me before with Someone Else awhile ago. At any rate, i wrote to Collarme Support and told them about this, inquiring as to whether they might have some kind of security breach about their users' private information.

Has this happened to anyone else here?

Coulda been a lucky guess. I've gotten lots of list add requests from people who think I'm 18. The guesses are not always right.

i suppose all these lucky guesses coulda been true, except my "real" Yahoo ID is NOTHING like sweetsub. Wouldn't He hafta get to the real one to even get onto my Yahoo? Whatever is going on, it feels kinda creepy.

ok well.. i got a message in my EMAIL under a different name totally as well... He said he had gotten my nic on collarme from a friend but that he couldnt find it there so took the chance on yahoo! ok.. i dont exactly hide email or anything .. not who i am or whathaveyou from most ppl... so i amswered.. that was a few wks ago.. then friday i came home from work and there was another email on yahoo from him.. ( He happens to have a Definably Dom nic ) and so i thought .. hum.. ok not too creeped out yet.. said he was in town balh balh graduations.. which are happening i know cuz we are BUSY at the hotel.. anyway.. i thought.. oh.. nice.. maybe set up a coffee date... hummmmm sort of exciting since NOTHING is happening here at all... so.... wrote him back said hi.. hoped he was hainvg fun with the graduations and family and all.. that i did happen to be around this weekend.. sort of thing.. and nothing more... from him either.
ok..
then my daughter comes home.. who is 31 and has a profile on here as well ... and she is looking at her mail on cm and admirers and Hello! there is this guys nic.. and.. the profile says he is from here.. and joined in march... HUMMMMM .. now a bit creeped..

Do you have any details on an email account where he could have it from? About two years ago I experienced that someone found out much more about my personal details then I wanted him to know when he just googled about my details and ended up in my yahoo account (not in the account itself but in the area where you fill out personal details, if you want to...) I think he knew my first name at that time and so found my details about my email with googling it. Since then I don't do any private information anymore in my email accounts, as I had not expected that to be so easily accessible. Just wondering if he might have gotten your IM that way maybe...but I do agree, thats creepy.

Sounds like a 'rerun' to me. Someone you had dealt with and given your YIM to in the past coming back for seconds under a new nick/ YIM.

The whole thing is creepy. i don't have any personal details in my Yahoo profile that i wouldn't care if anyone found out. i'm just a little paranoid that way. i guess it is a possibility that He came back under a new username. But He said something about me going back to my previous Dom in <a certain State> and i'd never had a Dom in that State....EVER. i wondered if it could've been a case of mistaken identity, but He had my IM addy so "right on" i don't think so. It was just WAY creepy.

It could be very possible that he has a habit of conversing with a number of people through alternate methods. Enough time had passed that, while he still had the old information, he had jumbled it with any number of other folks that he had talked to in the past. He linked the right name, but it was long enough ago that the other particulars were a bit fuzzy.

If she did converse with him in the past under another name and things went south or she declined his offer and he opted to contact her again he'd have to scramble the details to avoid detection.

For what it's worth books often recommend that you setup specific accounts when you're in places like this. Sometimes a seemingly normal person becomes the opposite when you remove them from the site. It's better to keep them all in one neat bundle until you've determined he's reasonably sane.

As a matter of fact, they just now responded. They said " Since you mention having a yahoo account (but not the name) in your journal, it may have just been a lucky guess. Or he may have known someone who used to have the yahoo name you use." i guess that's possible, that He may have put my username into the Yahoo IM just to see what He might come up with. Of course, i did NOT allow Him to put me on His list, saying He had obviously used shady, less-than-honest means to get my ID so i wanted nothing to do with Him. However, i don't think a person can use a yahoo name once it's already been used before by someone. Oh well. i guess there's nothing i can do about it.

For those who have IM and yahoo emails under the same name, use very different and difficult passwords. On the adult sites I work at a lot of ladies have been hit by hackers who "guess" their im, (quite often the same name they use on the phone sex lines; such as "lindsey_luvs_u") talk to them for a bit, and use some sort of program to figure out the password; they then try the same user name and password on yahoo email, and if they're the same, that's where the "fun" begins.
