Phoenix73Sir -> I've been thinking about kitty/puppy/insert animal here play and it got me thinking..... (5/13/2010 6:13:04 AM)

Over the last couple of days, I have been thinking more and more about animmal play (puppies, kittens and all manner of variety of things people do within the umbrella of BDSM) and it has got me thinking. Do certain D/s personality types translate into the animal you identify with either actively, or self contained? What follows is a conversation on MSN from this morning debating the topic as a whole. Apologies for length but MSN formatting is a swine to fix on here.. In it you will no doubt see a lot of ignorance on my part. but then I admit that and seek to learn more and change that, but I found it a fascinating subject and simply wanted to share it and see the views of others on it aswel. quote:
Phoenix73Sir says: TBH I have been thinking about Animal play and wether various anaimals represent various BDSM identities. i.e. Dog = sub, Pony = slave, Cat = Switch etc. ManicImp says: i think more likely represents the persons personality Phoenix73Sir says: yes. obviously, but when you think of the ANIMALKS traites.. it matches the generalised traites of BDSM people ManicImp says: i can get where you are coming from to a point but pony - slave im lost im struggling Phoenix73Sir says: yeah that one doesn't always fit... but dog often does... blinfd obedience and loyalty and trust in that its owner will care for it. ManicImp says: isnt that then slave also? Phoenix73Sir says: was just something that struck me alst night and I have been mulling it over since. ManicImp says: yeah and now you got me at it Phoenix73Sir says: yeah slave can also be dog. ManicImp says: i think you can fit all the animals to each of the 3 depends how you look at it and at what age you put the animal full grown cat yes can relate to a switch but a kitten is far from a switch... and is definately more of a sub Phoenix73Sir says: it's an interesting concept... one i intend to have a good think about and post to the boards at some point. ManicImp says: perhaps worth asking what animal each person would relate to themselves including the dominants Phoenix73Sir says: indeed.. most Doms I have read about who own animals seem to be tigers or wolfs... the occasional fox for good measure. ManicImp says: dragons thats another one Phoenix73Sir says: Hmmm havent heard of one of htem TBH. but it does makes sense. ManicImp says: alot of dominants relate to dragons... or atleast the ones i tend to know! Phoenix73Sir says: sure I like them a lot! but don't particularly relate to them... Syrox isnt a particularly good example... it's more of a name than a persona ManicImp says: oh i dont know id be inclined to say he was a persona he is definately your alter-ego type thingy! lol i know what i mean Phoenix73Sir says: more to cover my inexperience. but how often have you seen Syrox outside of CM chat? ManicImp says: he is there most of the time just in the back ground Phoenix73Sir says: thats him generaly though.. never obvious, but always there. ManicImp says: and id imagine if/when you get more forceful it is him that is there Phoenix73Sir says: not always. usualy that is mne... all he does is temper that force a bit. ManicImp says: thats what i meant not him being the "bastard" ... he is there to keep everything in check and controlled Phoenix73Sir says: exactly.. although when war is declared he goes into full force. ManicImp says: only if one of his own (close friends) is threatened.... Phoenix73Sir says: mostly ManicImp says: otherwise he shrugs it off Phoenix73Sir says: although sometimes he does simply get pissed off... not often but it can happen ManicImp says: Syrox is pretty easy to fathom out ya typical dragon! Phoenix73Sir says: TBH he doesnt DO a whole lot... except influence. probalm though with dragons is they are more difficult to define than dogs or cats etc... Dragons are mythical and it seems their traits vary according to who you talk to. same as Vampires or Spirits. ManicImp says: true...... so then Syrox could be a family dog that throws it all out of whack! Phoenix73Sir says: huh? ManicImp says: the traits Syrox has could also be found in a family dog Phoenix73Sir says: not really... ManicImp says: and if thats the case, the whole animal/slave thing gets thrown out of whack Phoenix73Sir says: it's difficult to explain the syrox experience properly TBH but he's more hands on than a dog would be, just never obviously. ManicImp says: understood but.. a woofer would be laid back, friendly, playful at times, loving, but would defend his property...defend his pack... and would kill or be killed for his loved ones Phoenix73Sir says: Syrox though isn't laid back... he's ever alert, just very good at calming. a warrior. ManicImp says: perhaps laid back in the wrong term but not in your face not got a confrontational manner not aggressive in his every day life Phoenix73Sir says: generally no, but he can be right in your face when needed to be. ManicImp says: oh dont doubt that lol im not picking on you specifically! but now i have the Dom = Dog idea and it works lol Phoenix73Sir says: to me a dog is unconditionally loving.. loyal, eager to please, and caring and aa prop-up when needed.. Thats a Sub to me. You know... we really should do these deep meaningfull BDSM related convos on the boards... it could get really interesting. ManicImp says: but then a dog can also be aggresive, protective, defensive, thats a Dom so perhaps then... subs and doms are dogs... but like us both being humans just different sorts of humans.... it depends on the breed of dog and also what its been trained for Phoenix73Sir says: but wouldnt a sub / slave also be so when it comes to defending her master? be it physically or verbaly? (thinking thew boards here and users like [Name Deleted]. (who by the way is lovely... was chatting with her a bit last night)) ManicImp says: agreed... but for every trait a sub has a dom has a little of and vice versa Phoenix73Sir says: thats just people in general though ManicImp says: yup so we are all *insert animal here* just different breeds of that animal doms are perhaps rotties subs more labrodors ManicImp says: subs are your average moggy Phoenix73Sir says: no swithes are cats. cats are never truly owned... they only let you think that as it suits their purposes. ManicImp says: but then slaves are never truely owned its just an agreement between 2 adults you think you own me, i let you think that till it goes wrong then that changes Phoenix73Sir says: but slaves are there because they want to and then psychologically become that. where as a switch or a cat are merely a slave who exerets their independance more. and in a different way. ManicImp says: subs/slaves are your average household moggy switches are more pedigree cats.... show cats perhaps less pet Phoenix73Sir says: you own a cat? ManicImp says: and Doms are those wretched cats that hate me and icant think of em siamese! Phoenix73Sir says: samese are bloody psychos though.... and they go senile with age too. ManicImp says: have done yes but couldnt keep him cos [name deleted]'s asthma reacts to them Phoenix73Sir says: well let me tell ya... your averagge domestic moggy and your pedigree all act in the same manner... You own me coz it suits me. coz i have no thumbs and can't use a tin opener. ManicImp says: then i must have had a daft cat cos fritz was a soppy ass... would sit with me constantly... always in my lap... slept with me... never went out i got a demented cat! Phoenix73Sir says: typical siamese... they tend as a breed to break all of the rules and then break their own too ManicImp says: hate them things and they hate me only difference is i dont bite and scratch them! Typically for any conversation it meandered off course, and changed tracks mid flow, but I hope it gives you an idea of where this debate was going. and I left the typos in the MSN chat purposly. (for all you grammar nazis out there to enjoy picking over lol) ~Edited for typos.
