Status: offline 		*not an advertisment lol* i've been wrecking my hair for years trying to make it straight due to my relentless fighting against my mixed heritage hair(Hatian, Dominican, Arabic and Caucasian). needless to say, my hair has looked fucked up beyond belief on more than once. so what i've been using is vitamin e oil(gel caps work too). you can get it at a pharmacy type place or any multi item store that sells personal items. and it averages 2 bucks a bottle. better than the 200+ a month i used to spend per month. so if you need a quick solution for your hair-give it a go. i also have read that its supposed to encourage hair growth, but i'm not sure about that claim.

thick hair tho- it something many people would like- even if it is curly.

Status: offline 		i'd say it replaces anything that you may use to add moisture to your hair. and if you use heated tools, its really good at protecting your hair from damage.

Status: offline 		i like to put mayo on 80% of the non sweet foods that i eat, so i havent had the opportunity to do it myself.

and i agree on the thick hair comment, but mine can be rediculously hard to to deal with.

Status: offline 		it can, but it comes down to trial and error. sometimes the vitamin e is mixed with coconut oil(despite being in a capsule), which can be dense, depending on the vitamin e to coconut oil ratio. if its a bit too thick for your liking, a small dosage of water should thin it out a bit.

i personally prefer the bottle- you can better gauge how much to use, and snipping all those pills doesn't seem to appealing to me, quite time consuming.

Yep, the party is at my house.

i've tried mayo.  i used way too much and even after washing it out, my hair smelled a bit like . . . mayo.  Only good if one is trying to attract people really into condiments.

i figured this out during a moment of boredom. you're in good company.

and the mayo thing, i heard that you're supposed to rise with vinegar to rid the mayo-y smell. i didn't believe that since it marks the beginings of a seafood salad

Add some mustard and catsup next time; you'll smell like a cheeseburger, which should work wonders

On topic- I'll have to try the vitamin E for haircare. I usually have it around, as I make my own massage oils and vit E keeps the carrier oil from going bad. For thinning hair, I have to add a plug for MegaTek. It's pretty much the same thing as Ovation Cell Therapy, but half the price (warning: it still isn't cheap), as it is marketed for use on horses. Us horse folks were using 'Mane & Tail' and such on our hair for years before other people figured it out , and MegaTek is no different. I use it, and can say that it really works to thicken and strengthen hair.

i've used sweet almond oil and essential oils before to good effect, but my hair doesn't often get that dry. i don't style it or use products generally.  About an half ounce sweet almond oil to 6 drops of a nice scented essential (test on your wrist first--don't want an allergic reaction!), left in for an hour.  It smells nice and it's brush-able after it's washed out.

Status: offline 		i've always wondered about mane & tail. I lived in london for a period of time and we rode horses at the school. The stable manager said it works great on human hair, but she was a bit of a nutter so i paid no mind.

Then i saw it in the beauty supply stores abotu a year ago, so that intrigued me a bit.

Status: offline 		i like the essential oil part. Vitamin E doesn't stink at all, but it doesn't smell all that wonderful either.

too bad for the almond oil portion though. The smell of almonds makes me gag and i get hives from them. It happened quite a few times before i realised that was causing the problem.

You could use any carrier oil: Jojoba, vitamin E, coconut or even extra virgin olive--if it smells nice mixed with whatever essential oil you choose, go for it.  Always good to test a drop or two on your wrist before just in case the essential oil or carrier oil causes irritation. Hives are no fun . . .

It works , as do many other products made for horses. M&T is made to soften the coarse hair on horses, and works just as well on people. I can't remember the brand name, but there is also a line of color-specific shampoos that a friend and I used to use on both the horses and ourselves that worked really well to deepen the color of our (and their) hair. I stopped using it when I started coloring my hair, as most people don't dye their horses, and I didn't want to end up withe screaming green or orange locks.

If your hair is already thick, you don't need or want MegaTek (unless you wish to look like 'Cousin It'). It is designed to regrow hair on rub spots and such, and the new growth would make you nuts, lol. It is also quite expensive for hair/ scalp conditioner but, as I said, half the price of the alternative made for humans.

You would be better off with M&T or any other product designed to make horse hair soft and manageable. I used several, and they have all worked great for me.
