53% of the masses were easily misled during the last Presidential election. to wit: Obama's ever-decreasing general approval rating (currently 45% and trending lower) vs his ever-increasing general disapproval rating (currently 55% and trending higher).

I did google it. 99% of Americans are literate in the strictest sense of the word, 14% are functionally illiterate but functionally illiterate means one is able to read and write basic words which usually includes the person's name, and even so, 14% functionally illiterate is way shy of 25%. Of course the study could simply mean "25% of Americans are under the age of 4" but somehow I don't think that math works out either.
