Yo. My weed wacker is finished. What do you like? The way my yard is- I have a manual push mower- but lots of trees and rocks. So- the wacker is what I use. I got 3 years use out of a $30 gadget from Sears. I see that the octoganal string is better- worth the cost. Anyhow- I am good for this week- but might replace the sucker. Any ideas?

Goats, they would require no gas or electricity. This would keep you from being a slave to the Rothchilds over the lawn.

Actually, given the mess that weed wackers make, I almost like that model better. Only the amount of weeds I have makes me pick up the motorized version.

If you have the funds by a Stihl, or Echo, both are well worth it.

Get a electrical weedeater. I got a 100 foot extension cord and a lot of trees to weedeat around. I just happen to run out of string.

Now I happen to despise the electric version and love my little gas powered gizmo. I hate dragging a cord around. Plus, I can use the gas one to keep the weeds off the electric fence. For some stuff, I really prefer the version Steph's photo showed. AND.......it's good exercise!!

We have 5 acres, 4 of which is wooded and weeds growing. I am tempted to have our neighbor put a few goats of his out there for maintenance. Our one acre has some trees and a leech field that we don't touch.

I do have a few long cords. I hate to cut the grass. Tho this place IS easier then my last place. I did some things to the grounds to lessen the work. Maybe this summer- I wont have to do as much. When one doesn't do much for say 10 years- there is catch up. I am here 3 years now- so- I caught up on some of the things- like digging a rut at the sidewalk to stop the weeds from covering the sidewalk.

I know...the branches are above my head, out of reach, I think. I have been begging mom to get a couple of goats if our neighbor does not want to deal with it..LOL! Besides, we sold the bushhog and the harrows discs. They have not been used since my dad passed on in '07.

When I first moved here, I thought about goats. So I found some people who kept goats, and mentioned I was thinking about keeping goats myself. "On purpose?" they asked. I passed on the goats. I thought about sheep too, and people do keep sheep around here, but I decided I had enough to worry about without more animals.

PA, I spent 3 hours on the tractor mowing yesterday afternoon while someone else weed whacked and painted shutters. The trees still need trimmed around and mulched. The mulch I shovel into the wheel barrow out of the composted horse poo pile, push across the yard into the orchard and shovel around each tree. That will take several hours a night, all week. I am not complaining but I have to say, you won't get much sympathy from moi. I also need to redo all my electric fencing and hook up the new fencer. I had a visitor Saturday morning. The neighbour's bull was wandering around, looking for love. Scared the shit out of me when I went blasting around the corner of the garage at 5:30am.

I dont want sympathy. I want stealth ideas. 3 hours? Man- let it go wild. That is nuts. I would let the yard go praire here- but the city is not really- into that. I would have to clearly define the space and put up a plack. Even then, few do that. The i80- is wild flower zones- so there is less grass then say Indiana. One has to keep the brush down as - bugs and rats and who knows what else gets in the house. So- some cutting is expected. I could do everything right- tho and if 1 neighbor is sloppy with garbage-- then hello rodents.

If you got the cash buy a good brand name, and pay the 300+ dollars. At least that's my advice, I'm a long time veteran of fighting many wars with crap lawn equipment. The last lawn mower I bought on the cheap ended up thrown against a light pole. LOL. Malfunctioning machines send me straight to rage. I just hate fucked up machinery, if you can stand the aggrevation of being half way done and your machine crapping out on you, well, you might sneak by buying a POS 30 dollar weed wacker, but it will fail well before a good model. I bought an electric black and decker week wacker, before, and after using for about an hour on and off the motor melted the plastic housing that held the motor, now that is just crap, pure crap. Then I had to waste an hour taking it back to the store for a refund, and buying a better one anyway.
