this girl's Master has told her that He will have her branded and her nipples pierced. the thought of having the branding done frightens the crap out of her. the nipples, not so much.
this girl knows what a hot iron can do to flesh and she would appriciate any information because she knows it is ignorance that is causing her fear and if she is fearful when the time comes, it will only make it worse for her.

I have not been branded, but have had piercings.  I would suggest doing some relaxation before hand.  The pain is not nearly as bad as a caning.

I've never been branded before, but I've intentionally burned myself. Yeah, it's painful, but it's also fairly quick. I've read that it takes around 3 seconds to make a good brand on human flesh. After about the first two seconds, you're thinking it's more like an eternity. But then the third second is up, and the pain is gone. It's usually still sore, but it's not nearly as bad as the burn itself. After the burning sensation went away, I always felt a sense of pride and accomplishment. Made it seem very much worth the then-seemingly minute pain that I went through. Great scars!

I'd recommend you shave the area before the brand, if applicable. Even little hairs smell awful when they burn. Also, totally good advice on the relaxing part. If you go into knowing that it'll be no big deal, you'll come out just fine.

edit: Oh, if you know it's going to be a type of brand where the iron is dragged across your skin rather than just a whole piece held in place all at once, have something to squeeze and/or bite on. Try to think of it as a little cat playing that little "happy cat" game with their claws (you know, the way they push on you, as if trying to make you produce milk like their mommy?) or something similarly harmless like that. Plugging your nose'll help you pretend it's harmless, 'cause you won't smell any burning that way.

there are health issues with all burns.........years ago i was told that a burn as small as an inch across can cause system shock........absolutely vital to get specific medical advice for the person concerned, general rules are not reliable

I would find out if he is set on a strike brand / hot iron or if he has looked into other methods of branding as well.  Below are some links on branding.

I'd strongly suggest asking him to talk you through how he is doing the branding.  Knowing that he is paying attention to the details and prepared will probably make you feel better.

my opinion.. you decide you want it firstly.... 100%..... that mutual and concentual thing.. to me.. is always foremost and seems you have reservations.. i would also consult a doctor.. and ask questions about what concerns you.... just a thought

That is really interesting Wild.  My understanding is the trickiest thing about a strike brand is getting to the ideal temperature and then maintaining that.  That is also a wider brand then the types I have seen done with most cauterizing pens. 

Did you intentionally irritate it for better scarification or was that pretty much the natural healing?

I’d say the hardest things about the strike branding (if my owner weren’t so busy, I’d ask him to post on it since this is my understanding from us talking about it) were getting an iron that was thin enough to account for the spreading and also getting the iron hot enough with an even heat. 

The brand spread probably three, maybe four times thicker than the actual iron which was paper thin (we had friends who made the iron for us).  I think that the quality of the actual branding iron is very important in strike branding.  On another thread I saw someone mention using a coat wire hanger and I would NEVER reccomend that.  The wire is to thick and it has all sorts of weird metals in it that you don't know how someone will react to. 

Apparently once the iron touches the skin the iron cools off pretty fast.  I’m not sure how my owner accounted for the iron cooling off, that’s one of those technicalities I am now just realizing I don’t think I asked him (either that or his answer was convoluted enough that I forgot).  

I did irritate the brand a little bit, but my owner really didn’t want me to do that, so as much as possible I didn’t   What I did do was pick a little bit at the scab, but I didn’t try to actually remove the scab until I could remove the entire scab of the brand.  Because of the issue of blobbling and the brand spreading, it seemed that if I picked at the scab too much the design could have distorted.   

I’ve heard of using a loofah brush on brands, but quite frankly I think that would be painful beyond imagination and also you have to balance the disruption of a brand with the whole possibly distorting and stretching the design the wrong way.

girl also has questions which she will ask her Sir, when the time comes as this is a new relationship and W/we have talked about brandings, piercings and the likes.

Are you saying that girl should not pick at it once it scabs? what about covering it with a piece of guaze and some waterproof tape so one can have a shower or bath? girl is so confused by what she has read about and been told about brandings that she has many questions, and does not want to sound like a fool (ok so she has posted many a time that there is no such thing as a stupid question, except that which is not asked, but she still feels like a fool for having so many questions.) however girl will be happy with asking a few questions at a time so she can write down the answers and read them later on.

I read through the rest of your posts on the other forum (Lying, under Ask A Master) and you did go on to say that it was all a "snafu" that he wasn’t really trying to find another submissive and that you loved and trusted him fully but that you had a lot of stuff going on in your life and were an emotional basket case (my words, not yours.) Are you sure that this is the time in your life to consider something such as a brand? To me a brand is something that is meant for a lifetime commitment (however, I’m sure not everyone feels that way.) And from the way your other posts read it sounded as if there were some barriers between you and your Master. Whether it be distance or maybe one (or both) of you is married. And those kinds of barriers are not conducive to long-term, let alone a lifetime.

It is my thought that you really need to get through this rough time in your life before getting a brand. I realize that as a kajira (I am not Gor) the Master has all control, but I would think that if he were a good man and a good Master that he would not put more pressure on you during this hard time that you are going through.

And on top of everything, make sure that HE knows what he is doing. It’s good that you are looking for information and advice about branding, but he should be doing just as much or more research than you. Even having someone else do it if he doesn’t feel qualified. And if the time comes, and you don’t think he knows what he’s doing....Don’t go through with it. Your health and welfare is what is most important.

I personally wouldn't suggest that someone pick at a scab, but I do think thats a personal decision.  For the most part I didn't have the brand covered up, I really wanted to make sure that there was enough air flowing on it.  When I was showering I didn't cover it with gauze, because well if the gauze got wet it would end up sticking to the brand anyways.  I didn't swim or take baths when the brand was healing (which overall took about three or four months) because well do you really want what is still in many ways an open wound just laying in dirty water?

I did wear a thin layer of gauze on the brand if I were going out to say a play party, or also when I knew I would be riding on the NY subway system.

this girl has been owned by her Master for over a year, and He has been speaking of branding her for a while now.
 YES, this girl LOVES and TRUST her Master. the thread she started in "ask a Master" was due to her emotional state and not from anything her Master did or didnt do.
 the reason she posted this thread is because, although  she has no idea when her Master is planning on branding her, she has no doubt that she will be branded.
 her questions are not based on distrust of her Master, but her own ignorance of the technique and what she should expect.
 and she would like to thank A/all of Y/you for Y/your input, it is proving most helpful.

I branded Myself and slave bishop with a homemade tool (paperclip sterilized,and shaped into letters).
It hurt for a few minutes,but was tolerable.
Regular burn care was used after with no problems,they were done well over a year ago and are still quite visible.

I have never heard of system shock...perhaps if your really uptight and its a big brand you could have some adverse effects same with getting pierced or tattooed.

I have read that the non heat branding style is better,but I have never used it,so I cant say personally.

My  Owner is going to have me tattooed soon and he wants to pierce my nipples......its only a matter of time before he wants to have me branded. This thread and my strong desire to please my Master has gone a long way to break down the hard limit that was branding. Still a little scared...but nowhere near as much as I was.
Fear of something can be stronger than the reality sometimes....

When are the two events taking place?  I would recommend having the piercings and the branding done a few months apart.  Do you know who will be doing the piercings
or at least which tattoo and piercing parlor?  You can ask the piercer about healing time and post-piercing sterile treatment for your nipples.

right now W/we are still in the discussion stage, although it is getting closer to happening. He has spoken of using a hot brand. this girl does not feel heat like O/others do, she just feels a tightening of her skin, and that has caused some damage to her in the past, to the point that she is afraid of fire, and Master is into fire play and has gotten her past a lot of her fear, but branding is different.
 this girl knows her Master will be in control of everything, and she DOES trust Him, yet still, she has some nervousness about it and is asking for personal experiances and the logistics of branding.
