I've not traveled a great deal but have been lucky to experience several beautiful bodies of water. A business trip to Savannah GA allowed me time to really explore the city and take a day trip to Tybee Island, the Atlantic. Several trips to CA took care of the Pacific. I've seen several of the Great lakes. I live near the biggest river in the US, the Mississippi. Took a vacation to New Orleans followed by a cruise through the Gulf and Caribbean.

I bet you can guess which was my fav! One hint.........amazing blue water and white sand.

Just a short drive to the Atlantic for me, and going into the Keys you get both the Atlantic and Gulf of Mexico.

I love the ocean. I have been to the atlantic and live near (hour drive) to the pacific. I find any body of water to be beautiful. Lake Tahoe is awesome!

ETA: Sir and I recently went to the Metolius river. It was beautiful!

Every so often, I need to spend a little time watching big waves breaking on big rocks. Waterfalls and fast moving mountain streams work too. The only bodies of water in my immediate vicinity are either retention basins for flash flood control, or the "lake" of recycled water at a local park.

Girly, if you are about an hours drive from Multnomah Falls, there is a good chance you are very near me, unless you are an hour in the opposite direction...lol. You forgot to show the 2 hr drive to the coast. I wish my other pc was working, I'd upload a shot or two. But yes, Oregon is lovely if you don't mind getting wet.

The Columbia River Gorge is truly one of my favorite places on the planet, with Bagby Hot Springs as a close second.

I'll make it back home one of these years.

I love Oregon! If I could afford it, I'd pack up and leave SoCali to live up there.

As for oceans, I've lived near both the Atlantic and Pacific, spent several years living a few miles from Lake Erie, used to spend holidays at Cape Cod, and spent 3 awesome weeks in Brisbane AU, which included a trip to the Gold Coast. I love oceans, but much prefer to go to beaches at night or when it's raining, when there isn't anyone else around.

Locals leave and come back all the time.  I do note that the Pac NW is one place that move-back is less frequent from.  But nearly any where else they come back with in a few years.
