IncestMummy -> Scammers (4/7/2010 9:16:23 AM)

Right my post about the idiot who thought it was funny to scam me has been removed. Fair enough I could have just been someone with a drudge, as it is I was just trying to warn the girls on this site.

Still that aside I have asked that the fact of scammers be considered. Their arguement on here is that it would take too long to go into the ins and outs. But surely there could be something you could post on someones profile to say they have had negitiive feed back and then if you wanted to approach the accuser and accusee you could and make your own mind up?

Or could anyone suggest a more viable option.

All I know is since i post my complaint about that prat, I have had lots of emails wishing me well and saying youre sick of scammers, how its ruining the site. i quite agree, it shouldnt be so easy for someone to just lie to you for the sake of it. i was sooo nice to this guy and he just crap on me because he was bored or stupid or both!

Anyway I hope ive opened things up a little.

How about you delete the post and move on.  This topic is so 09

LadyPact -> RE: Scammers (4/7/2010 9:20:22 AM)

I'm glad you've had so much support on the other side.

On this side, use the search function and see how many threads are written about scammers.  Then, read all of the comments from those of us who don't have an issue with it because it doesn't effect us personally.

To the first point, it would be wide open to abuse, essentially allowing people to gang up for less than decent reasons.

To the second, click "hide profile" and move on. They are ridiculously easy to spot and simple to avoid. Or if not--then the education will prove beneficial.

It's the Internet. On the scale of negative aspects (malware, phishing, etc.), this isn't even a consideration.

Also---you are poster number 6,739,824.884578XYWZ98345Q to whine about this. Take a look through the previous discussions.

Or maybe he just wasn't that into you.

When it comes to scammers you just have to use your own judgement. To have some sort of system of "naming and shaming" just opens the door to people with a grudge or ill will because someone didn't return their interest.

No one is obliged to return anothers interest and it certainly doesn't make them a scammer.

Lockit -> RE: Scammers (4/7/2010 9:44:35 AM)

IncestMummy, can you tell me the name of a site, anywhere, hell for that matter, a bar, a social event of any sort, where there are no scammer's, rotten no goods, user's of all sorts and people who will lie?

If you expect people to babysit your social life and protect you, you are naive or in denial. Stop putting your personal responsibility and bad luck onto other people, who may or may not being doing all you think needs to be done to protect you. We are all adults here. We all find people playing games and we all have had it done to us at some point in life. What response we have to that is a personal matter, but I find pointing out that I fell for it and creating a big scene about it is rather telling about me. I will admit I was fooled or played, but I am not going to go around bitching about it and blaming others because I got stuck, hurt, used or played. I may have had no fault, but still someone got passed my radar and that was either because they had good game for a while or I didn't have good game.

I've pissed off a lot of people on this site. I've had a few get pissy and follow me around causing trouble. If the site allowed us to create list's of the bad guys, I can imagine I would be on that list, put there by some guy I didn't cam with, someone I told off or called a troll or someone I wouldn't let manipulate and use me.

Time to grow up deary and see that sometimes, it is what it is, deal with it and move on.

As I see it, putting "negative feedback" on a profile is going to require tracking of some sort. This in turn would mean additonal man hours to keep track of that stuff in some fashion or another, which in turn would eventually lead this site down the road of so many others, Pay to Participate. Which just means that the scammers pay along with the rest of us. I've found that some of my best friends are a) common sense; b) the delete button and c) the ignore button. The most important one is common sense. Scammers are pretty easy to spot if you pay attention.

It says in big red letters at the top of each email not to send money to anyone.  You made the choice to do this.  As for you idea of a "feedback"options, give some serious thought to this idea and tell me how you would feel if the negative feedback was posted about you.
If you choose to not use common sense and not follow the rules, you've made your choice and now you get to live with the consequences of that choice.

As for another viable option...why not start your own site?

Wouldn't the scammers just gang up to blacklist all the people who called them on their scamming?

Umm... are you talking about a scammer or some type of player? If it is a scammer, they don't do it because they think scamming is funny. As for warning the girls here, most of us are very well versed when it comes to spotting scammers, and blacklisting is a TOS violation.

No. See above RE blacklisting. The support staff here has enough to do without getting into some "he said/ she said" shite. I'm betting that if someone blacklisted your profile in such a way, you wouldn't be too happy about it, and would want the offending text removed.

Ummm... just how do you intend to make it more difficult for people to tell lies on the internet? As for being bored and stupid, see what I said above about scammers. They are not bored, many of them are far from stupid, and they do not scam people for fun. To them, it is a job, nothing more.

If you are going to continue to use this or any other website to meet people, you really need to step up your screening skills so that you can spot the liars yourself. No one, here or elsewhere, is going to do that for you.

Anyway I hope ive opened things up a little.

Not really. As has been said, we get a minimum of 2-3 scammer threads a week here.

Oh, I don't know, you could use a little common sense and not send anyone you don't know money on the internet.[8|]

DesFIP -> RE: Scammers (4/8/2010 12:36:45 PM)

Everybody here is anonymous. So if you go on a date and the girl thinks you are the most boring person in the entire world, you would get negative feedback. The fact that the next girl thought you were a thoughtful, soft spoken gentleman wouldn't change the negative feedback.

Don't send anybody any money. What else do you need to know about scammers?
