Since the web has so much BS on it that one must always carry around a spare septic tank I got to wondering. What is the typical web bot? What do they do? Who is they in "They always ruin it for the rest"

So to 'They' here is a chance to chime in with your most memorable web bot story. Is They short fat balding and envious of a stiff wind? Is They another bored exec waiting for the 2 pm conf call?

Let me hear your best web bot revenge. I don't mean taking a Keller's stock image and removing the water mark and posting a profile with an outside addy. I want to hear the one that got away. The ones that create 'That is what They always does' The Theys that have served under Master Corrections.

If it is really good, They just might end up in my next reality TV filler.

Be Well

'They' don't even register on my radar. The memory of 'they' is gone as fast as I can hit the delete button.

Why on earth would I waste my energy on any sort of revenge on a faceless 'they'???????

I've got better things to do!

It's my understanding that a web-bot is just a software application.

So to 'They' here is a chance to chime in with your most memorable web bot story. Is They short fat balding and envious of a stiff wind? Is They another bored exec waiting for the 2 pm conf call?

"Is They" doesn't make sense.  To be honest, I don't care who "They" are.

Let me hear your best web bot revenge. I don't mean taking a Keller's stock image and removing the water mark and posting a profile with an outside addy. I want to hear the one that got away. The ones that create 'That is what They always does' The Theys that have served under Master Corrections.

Sounds like someone needs to get a new hobby.  I'm not sure why anyone would bother trying to get revenge on a software application.  Maybe I'm not understanding your use of the term "web bot".

If it is really good, They just might end up in my next reality TV filler.

I'll be sure to send my hourly rate and expect full compensation.

Be Well
Sir Guy

I lump a virus, web bot or spammer into the same context.

I am not looking for the other side of the coin, Ours or Yours thoughts; looking for They to chime in as to what They accomplish, have done, why and looking for something over the top that They have schemed up. They don't have to worry about replying here and exposing them selves as They will simply make a non bona fide profile so They will not be exposed if they write.

Let me share an idea of another form .... Your cell phone rings and you answer it... it is your number displaying on the in bound call.

"h . . h,,, hello??" DO YOU KNOW WHO THIS IS!

" aaah, ahh n,, no" RIGHT NOW I AM YOU AND IF I MAKE 3 CALLS TO 3 VERY IMPORTANT AGENCIES . . .

Name the movie that is from CarrieO and I'll remember you in my will - kidding

I will add this thought - on line people with numerous friends that include web bots - are these persons then web bots too?

Oh dude, you need something more productive to think about!

The purple font is cute though.

Maybe it's because I'm drinking right now, but I didn't understand a word of that. However, judging from some of the comments I'd wager many others didn't either.

I have no idea what the OP is on about but I have a feeling he has confused a software program with a living person.

Quick etymology. The "bot" in web-bot is a derivative of "robot".

Maybe this will help...

bot
n.
A software program that imitates the behavior of a human, as by querying search engines or participating in chatroom or IRC discussions.

I am not looking for the other side of the coin, Ours or Yours thoughts; looking for They to chime in as to what They accomplish, have done, why and looking for something over the top that They have schemed up. You're looking for spam stories?  Here's my favorite...

Please see above definition of "bot".    "You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means."

I was really looking for the web bots to chime in with some better stories that THEY have done. Yes I know a Web Bot is just a program. As I said prior, web bot , fakes, virus, I lump them all together. I guess no one else who has read or commented in this forum has ever seen or experienced the typical BS on line. Guess I am special.

Too much thinking causes wrinkles so do not attempt to find the generalization behind They Us Your etc.

@Carie O - Love Monty, too

@aylee >So. . . this guy is looking for what a spammer has accomplished? <
That and more ideas, yes.

Be Well

Nah...you're not that special.  I think you'll find, if you hang out here on the forums for any length of time, that the majority of spammers really only do 1 or 2 drive-by postings.  The people (yeah, people...many have met each other in RL) who are regulars (cue Cheers theme) on the boards aren't generally the spamming kind. Well, with one or two exceptions and even they can have something intelligent to say in all the nonsense.  Sometimes.

Maybe you could do a search for any threads that discuss spammers and fakes ('cause god knows we NEVER get those posted here) to see what's been said in the past.

BTW....wrinkles happen.  Lines of character can sometimes show a life well-lived....or too much time spent squinting in the sun.
