People have no idea how expensive this health care is going to be, and the democrats aren't going to let them find out until 2014 when all the provisions kick in. By hiding the truth they hope they can survive the next 2 elections. Basically the taxes and medicare cuts kick in for several years before the benefits pay out. When republicans tried to improve the bill by adding amendments they were shot down. I also have a feeling that private schooling for autistic children will be included in this and that runs into hundreds of thousands of dollars for each kid. When in reality we already have special ed teachers that could be taught the very same techniques. God forbid another amnesty passes, because then we will have 15 million illegals who will immediately receive free health care, then 30 million more over the next decade from chain migration, and with all the babies born in that decade we are easily looking at 50 million more people on the gov. dole. There's no possible way our health care system can afford that. Thanks to 10 million Illegal aliens our health care system is already on the brink of collapse and they currently don't go in for every little thing. But they will when they have a government pass card. Here a list of amendments the republicans offered but democrats absolutely refused. If you are a senior citizen or have a parent who is this should be extremely troubling for you. If you are a liberal who wants his healthcare legacy to be successful, you must join www.numbersusa.com to help us stop amnesty. Senators voted on 29 consecutive GOP amendments between 5:30 p.m. Wednesday and 2:30 a.m. Thursday, when they recessed. By 57-42, Democrats rejected an amendment by Sen. Tom Coburn, R-Okla., barring federal purchases of Viagra and other erectile dysfunction drugs for sex offenders. Coburn said it would save millions, while Sen. Max Baucus, D-Mont., called it "a crass political stunt." Democrats also deflected GOP amendments rolling back the health law's Medicare cuts; killing extra Medicaid funds for Tennessee and other state-specific spending; barring tax increases for families earning under $250,000; and requiring the president and other administration officials to purchase health care from exchanges the statute creates. The landmark legislation that Obama signed Tuesday would provide health care to 32 million uninsured people, and make coverage more affordable to millions of others by expanding the reach of Medicaid and creating new subsidies. Insurance companies would be forbidden to refuse coverage to people with pre-existing illnesses, individuals could buy policies on newly created exchanges and parents could keep children on their family plans until their 26th birthdays. The $938 billion, 10-year price tag would be financed largely by culling savings from Medicare and imposing new taxes on higher income people and the insurance, pharmaceutical and medical device industries. www.apathetic-usa.com
