Oh sure, the Dems have got 70 % of the voters pissed off now with this healthcare bill and they *no longer have the Unions on their side* because they'll be taxed 40% on their (Cadillac) healthcare plans and they're even considering something as dumb as amnesty for illegal aliens that *no-one* wants?
They won't get to November.
I am *really* not looking forward to talking to my two brothers who belong to Unions anytime soon! I just know I'm going to have to hold the phone away from my ear.........oh shit, one of them just e-mailed me!!! The Firefighter.

When did Howie Carr say this? Does he know that you are add libbing?

Fuck the Unions. They are one of the main reasons that our states are going down the financial tubes.

Lazy fucking union workers with their fat pensions.

I hope they privatize your lazy firefighter brother out of job.

Your two brothers, who I assume from past posts, are union members they have absolutely no...let me repeat that no fear of being taxed under the "Cadillac plan" tax....Cadillac plans refers to the high end coverage received by CEO"s and such...you are too funny Popeye....most unions, which have been fighting a losing battle to protect their health care plans are behind this.

DomKen -> RE: Healthcare Passed, Now Stop Amnesty (3/23/2010 5:12:32 PM)

The Cadillac tax is on plans with annual premiums of $10,200 for an individual or $27,500 for families. So unless your monthly premium is at least $850 you have nothing to worry about.

slvemike4u -> RE: Healthcare Passed, Now Stop Amnesty (3/23/2010 5:18:10 PM)

LOL,popeyes union working brothers might drive Cadillacs.....but they don't have Cadillac plans....lol.

It is possible that they do. Many of the municipal workers unions have some pretty sweet policies. Remeber that $10,200 figure is for total premiums paid for the plan, not just what is paid by the employee.[8|]

Virtually no one has these plans. even if you were buying in the marketplace its unlikely you would go that high as very good coverage is available for much less.

I highly doubt it Thad...these are plans with no co-pays and no deductables. Most union plans have one or the other in most cases a mixture of both.

I work with union Mechanics. They pay 75.00 a month in union dues.. that includes their kick ass health care.

When I had a family. I paid 199.00 a WEEK for health insurance... no dental. no optical.  Now I pay 54.00 week as a single Man

Are you asking Me to feel sorry for those  people?

I am not complaining we all choose our own path. But I don't see why I have to buy into "Union entitlement"

So, in effect we are reducing the imbalance found in government workers to working people healthcare costs?

LOL.

That depends on where in the country you are and unfortunately on gender of the person being insured. When trying to buy insurance for myself, ex-wife, and 2 daughters I was looking at premiums ranging from $2250 - $2600 per month depending on the deductible. There are definitely better rates out there, depending on group affiliations and location, like employees of UCSF coverage through Blue Cross

quote:

Premium Rates, 2009-2010
UCSF RESIDENTS HEALTH INSURANCE

Monthly premium includes medical, dental, vision, life, AD&D and LTD coverage

Please note premiums include an administrative fee of $8.08; Blue Cross rates do not include the employee contribution of $30, $60 or $90

Self (Tier 1)
BLUE CROSS: $451.75
HEALTH NET: $387.00

Self Plus Child(ren) (Tier 2)
BLUE CROSS: $762.45
HEALTH NET: $643.24

Self Plus Adult (Tier 3)
BLUE CROSS: $948.99
HEALTH NET: $876.09

Family (Tier 4)
BLUE CROSS: $1,313.18
HEALTH NET: $1,106.47

The premiums for all RESIDENTS and most CLINICAL FELLOWS are automatically paid by the salary funding source. The resident/clinical fellow is required to contribute if Blue Cross is the Plan of choice.

PREMIUM CONTRIBUTIONS (BLUE CROSS)

For Residents who choose the PPO (Blue Cross) plan, a monthly premium contribution is required. The monthly premium contributions are as follows:

Self: $30.00
Self Plus Child(ren): $60.00
Self Plus Adult: $60.00
Family Coverage: $90.00

Jeff

Not asking anybody to do anything.

I would bet that there was a nice contribution to the total cost of your plan by either the union or the company. All I was saying is that the part the company contributes plus what you pay counts towards that $10,200 figure.

I am against the mandates altogether, and especially on taxing individuals for health benefits that have been negotiated. That being said I can't understand why the big unions and government employees get a 8 year holiday on the tax, when any other person that hits that threshold will have to pay a 40% tax on the total cost of their policy.

Jeffff -> RE: Healthcare Passed, Now Stop Amnesty (3/23/2010 5:49:03 PM)

The company paid 150.00 a month..... not a great deal for Me, but once again. it was what it was.

Just got off the phone. Mike, the Unions have better plans than some CEOs do. "Cadillac plan" refers to a very good plan. The Unions have some of the best healthcare plans in the country!
I didn't ask my brother how much he pays or his deductable as he told me to call him tommorow night at the station. I'll ask him tommorow night.
But he said the guys are *pissed* and also the police unions and the municipal unions!
Things aren't looking too good for Rep. Eddy Markey D. 7th Mass! They're going to "go after him in November!"
And I still haven't talked to the Teamster brother yet. I wouldn't be surprised if some congressional district offices went up at 2 or 3 in the morning.
Those new fire engines have a lot of computer chips in them these days and they're always acting up it seems.
Wouldn't that be funny, one brother lighting them up and another trying to put them out! lol
Mike, as I've said on here many times, *I believe that all Americans should be covered under some type of healthcare plan!* But this is probably not that plan.
It will include cuts in Medicare right?
I've been listening to talk radio for the last two days and there is a LOT of ANGER out there about this! That's all I'm saying.
Now, on top of that anger if Obama tries an "amnesty" for illegal aliens against the wishes of the American People who knows what will happen?
I think it would be such a safe bet that Obama would then lose the House in Nov if he tried it that the bookmaker's in Vegas would be saying, "No Action!"

The thing about politics is that you want The People *with* you, not *against* you!

To allow the unions a chance to renegotiate their contracts?

Also last I read the tax is only on premiums in excess of $10.2k or $27.5k. Which means even fewer people will be effected in any significant fashion.

Definitely could be so that contracts can be restructured. I think it also adds a bit of political cover for the next couple of election cycles.

I am thinking that the way it will affect folks is that far fewer of those plans are going to be offered, which will also cut back the expected revenues from that tax. Those are the same thresholds I remember seeing.

Thad, you seem to know much more than I on this, what about Doctors? Won't their incomes decrease under this?

servantforuse -> RE: Healthcare Passed, Now Stop Amnesty (3/23/2010 6:57:53 PM)

Every teacher in the state of Wisconsin has a benefit package that is at least double that $10,000 figure.

Thad, you seem to know much more than I on this, what about Doctors? Won't their incomes decrease under this?

Some will, some won't, and others are leaving the profession. In theory doctors are going to be getting a whole bunch more patients (which should mean more money), however there is no knowing what the insurance companies are going to do to malpractice rates with the increased exposure. It will also depend on how perm the seperate but equally important doctor fix bill is. Then add in the big chain pharmacy companies like Walgreens that will no longer be accepting medicare, and a number of doctors that are moving in the same direction it makes for an ugly confusing puzzle that nobody can honestly say what the final picture will look like.

There are some very good provisions in the bill, but there are some very bad ones as well. I am still not sure how my personal plan will be changed if at all, as this bill pops in and out of a bunch of other laws and regulations changing a word or sentence here and there that has huge effects on other laws, regulations, taxes, credits, etc... It is a messy piece of legislation, that helps make a mess out of other legislation.

I think the President said it best today that it will take 4 years just to figure out how to implement most of it properly.

takemeforyourown -> RE: Healthcare Passed, Now Stop Amnesty (3/23/2010 7:44:46 PM)

Look, all I know is that I've wiped the asses of and delivered the babies of more illegal immigrants than I care to remember. Who the fuck do you think is paying for their hospital bills right now?!
