Yeah. And wouldn't you think that some of the officers had been sent there multiple times? Maybe radio back, "Umm.... are you SURE this is the right address?"

Well, and even if not, I would think that the address would keep coming up in different officer's reports of stops they made. A pattern would have emerged. Or is this a case of departments not talking to each other or assuming that someone else was fixing it. And they brought them a cheesecake? WTF? Is that the new way to say, "Sorry that we have messed with your life the last seven years" ? Can I do anything and as long as I bring over a cheesecake, it is all good? Just wonderin'?

There's no smoke without fire and just because no evidence was found the first fifty times isnt to say it wont turn up next time. I suggest water boarding them to gain useful information and maybe even a confession. But then again I am a nutjob. Sounds to me like a problem apparently endemic in police forces the world over; that for all the bravery and good they do, a large proportion of officers are just plain not too bright, bless 'em. And if its anything like here on top of that, where officers are moved from department to department every six to twelve months with each new initiative or commander, that lack of brightness is doubled as accounting lines are disrupted and lost. Still its good the issue in this case has been identified and an apology made. A cheesecake and a public sorry may or may not settle it, but its worth a try compared to the potential cost of a lawsuit. E
