If this is such good legislation  then how come no one wants it?

Musicmystery -> RE: CBO report on Health Care costs (3/18/2010 11:00:36 AM)

If no one wanted it, it wouldn't be such an enduring issue.

tazzygirl -> RE: CBO report on Health Care costs (3/18/2010 11:02:52 AM)

If it was not good legislation for "we the people" why would the insurance companies pump all that hard "billed" for money that all of you with insurance policies pay them for your health care into fighting this piece of legislation?

willbeurdaddy -> RE: CBO report on Health Care costs (3/18/2010 11:36:28 AM)

There is no bill to cost. The CBO report is an estimate, not an official scoring, and has so many caveats that its meaningless. Two votes for the bill were lost AFTER the publication of the CBO report.

While sipping the kool-aid here's something to consider...

The Bill requires that every American buy a "federally approved" insurance policy with "federally set" minimum standards to be determined by the yet to be established bureaucracy. One of 139 new bureaucracies mandated by the Bill.

Since the bureaucrat in charge isn't seated and his/her committee hasn't determined the "minimum standard" how reliable is any number generated by the CBO?

tazzygirl -> RE: CBO report on Health Care costs (3/18/2010 12:16:08 PM)

I didnt say it was or wasnt. I merely posted that it was out.

And it really makes me wonder whats in your cup, Merc, since you seem to enjoy making so many assumptions.

Note that it is called a "preliminary estimate", not an "estimate", ie it is not a final scoring.

tazzygirl -> RE: CBO report on Health Care costs (3/18/2010 12:20:03 PM)

noted, and not one post saying it wasnt. [:D]

So whats your point? Mine was that people shouldnt confuse this with an official CBO scoring, which is what the Dem leadership is trying to imply.

tazzygirl -> RE: CBO report on Health Care costs (3/18/2010 12:27:54 PM)

So, tell me, when does the official report hit? 2019? When should we look for it?

I posted it because it seemed to be in the news so much. I thought it might make for a lively debate. Instead, you are makign assumptions that no one is saying. Of course we know its preliminary. we wont even know what the Bill contains exactly until its passed.

So how could the report be anything but?

"WE WON'T EVEN KNOW WHAT THE BILL CONTAINS EXACTLY UNTIL ITS PASSED"

Neither does anyone voting on it including, by her words, Speaker Pelosi. A Bill impacting a large percentage of the economy. A Bill that is so "good" even those allegedly supporting it, don't want their name associated with a vote for it.

Yet - we MUST pass it before the President leave for a trip on Sunday! Why?

Why are the Democrats so afraid of their own constituency?

I love the adminsitrations take on it.

"A vote on "deemed passage" will be seen as the same as a vote for or against the health care bill" Uhhhh....ok, then vote for or against the health care bill, since it shouldnt change the vote.

Obama also lied to Bret Baier (or doesnt know whats in the bill) about the "Louisiana Purchase". He claimed its not just for LA, but for any area hit by a natural disaster, citing Hawaii's earthquake. Bullshit. Its so narrowly worded that it can only apply to LA and Katrina. It cant even apply to MS and Katrina.

tazzygirl -> RE: CBO report on Health Care costs (3/18/2010 12:39:14 PM)

Im referring to the reconciliation part. Members of Congress will know as they vote.

No, they wont. There will be no final scoring of the bill because the CBO has no way of knowing what will and wont get through the reconciliation process.

BeingChewsie -> RE: CBO report on Health Care costs (3/18/2010 12:53:54 PM)

Mayo physicians are very well compensated, very well compensated, including the benefits package. Mayo is non-profit and I believe they made 6.9 billion last year. Doctors love working for Mayo, they see less patients, work less hours and make more money than *most* would in private practice. I don't think $250k-$500k/yr plus benefits(including malpractice insurance and loan repayment) for 40 hours a week is anything to sneeze at. In other words most really haven't taken a pay cut when you examine it closely.

It is worth noting that Mayo has stopped seeing Medicare patients(because they have been losing money on them) at some of their clinics in a "study" that is sure to be applied across all the clinics when concluded.

But enough about physicians and hospitals...

They won't be the ones making less, it will be all the other health care workers, especially nurses and ancillary staff ( Ya know the middle class).

Maybe we need to ask the Mayo Clinic how they get their Drs to do it.

tazzygirl -> RE: CBO report on Health Care costs (3/18/2010 12:54:34 PM)

Why dont they? Its posted.

http://www.cnn.com/2010/POLITICS/03/18/health.care.latest/index.html?section=cnn_latest

Legislation posted: The text of the reconciliation act for the health care bill has been posted on the House Rules Committee Web site.

http://rules.house.gov/bills_details.aspx?NewsID=4606

I mean, this is the reconciliation bill as it will be presented.

Unlike those that support this bill - I drink from the cup of reality.

What "assumptions"? Is there currently a "Federally approved" with Federally Set Benefits" determined insurance plan that I missed?

The CBO report isn't "assumed" worthless, without an approved insurance plan specifying required benefits, it IS worthless.

So confident?
Latest news: President Barack Obama has postponed his trip to Asia. Or maybe he's staying in town for another reason. Since this Bill is so despised by the general public, he may need to be here for other reasons if it's passed.

So "good" another vote being bought as we speak? The health care budget reconciliation bill appears to have a special carve-out for one of its most ardent critics, Senate Budget Chairman Kent Conrad (D-N.D.). Though the measure would broadly eliminate government subsidies to banks that offer student loans, the Bank of North Dakota will continue to receive federal assistance for its student loan program.

We are witnessing democracy being destroyed in front of our eyes.

tazzygirl -> RE: CBO report on Health Care costs (3/18/2010 1:00:39 PM)

no, silly, the assumptions you and willbe are making is that someone here is posting how incredible, insightful, or some such nonsense when no one has said that at all, least of all me. so take that cup of kool-aide and shove it. [:D] maybe as an enema, you might actually start to relax.
