Wow, it's been interesting how many nice people I have met in different countries on here, I just wish they would update their profile to show their location.

A fair concern. But considering how loosely other forum rules are followed (e.g. "Criticism of other users is not permitted.") I don't think mistakenly offering up positive vibes about folks he might not have met is such a drag.

Since the thread is probably going to get moved anyway, just a bit of commentary.

This is just personal preference, but I actually do prefer this section staying to the guidelines of folks who have actually met in person.  It's something of a counter to all of the threads that rant about how no one here is real or that no one ever has any success in meeting anyone.  Truthfully, I wish this section was used more, even just to relate good experiences about meeting for coffee, friendly get togethers, and folks who got to meet face to face when attending the same event.  There are some good folks on this site.  It's always enjoyable reading the good stories about when they get to meet away from the computer.

Except when threads are mistakenly moved because of the idiotic, unfounded outrage of other posters when there is no reason to move them.

So long as threads there can get moved because we have either the audacity to discount some people's "positive experiences" (irl) as mock-worthy or because of our willful ignorance to verify the facts of the situation, it will be a worthless clique-enforced mini-club where only users who have enough "reality cred" from tenure on the boards get to not have their threads moved.

Hypocrisy looks good on no one.

(Note: I'm not referring to this thread as the example. It was another. And since the rules of that forum are applied selectively, it becomes an insult to the very positive energy it is intended to foster.)

In the forums, I find the people are nice. From the emails I get, I find the people are mostly.....very arrogant.

I can't comment on the thread you are basing your statements on, so I have no information.  I do know that there have been occasions on the positive experiences board (since the thread now has been moved) where folks have just written up a lot of tripe to get themselves noticed.  Even occasions where folks have come back later to the thread that they started to say that it was a fantasy, rather than any experience that they had in reality.  I'm actually all for moving those, too.

The quick blurb to the specific forum really is rather simple.  It's about relating experiences of folks who have met away from the computer.  I don't think the concept is really that difficult.

This is NOT the place to make accusations about other members since we have no way of knowing whether what is posted is true or not. That isn't a judgment call on any given person since a certain situation could all be true and posted with the best of intentions, but then again, it could be posted with intentions of slander or spite. We have no real way of knowing.

NZ, I think we're discussing multiple issues here.  I'd prefer to start with the original.

You're being rather selective about the portion of the guidelines that you chose to quote.  I'm basing My comments on the very same forum post in your link.

quote:

As the description for this section states, this is a forum for members to post about their positive experiences with meeting other Collarme.com members IN PERSON, in a non-professional setting.

quote:

Only members who have met other members from this site in person should post here.

quote:

You should also post the date (or aproximate time) of when you first met in person and how long you have known each other online prior

quote:

The only requirements are that you have met them in person and it was a positive experience that you wish to share with others.

Now, between you and Me, are you seriously saying that specifically stating "in person" four times isn't enough?  How difficult is that for the originator of this thread to understand?

I appreciate you linking the thread you were referencing.  I went and took a look at it.  If I, or My boy, had responded to it in the fashion that you have the issue, you might have a point with Me in particular.  We're not, so I'm thinking you should take it up with those who did.

As to whether it was mistakenly moved, I think we may have two separate opinions.  I don't tend to believe it was the original of that thread that was the issue.  I'm thinking it had more to do with the hijacking that followed.  I know that was the reason given for the 20 page reintroduction thread that was moved by one of the mods.  It was no longer an introduction, and became a debate.  For the record, I don't think there's any 'forum favoritism' in that policy.  The very same thing happened to the famous "Orgy Noises" thread after we (the folks who actually participated in that little get together) hijacked the heck out of that in good fun, too.

The thread I was actually thinking of in My earlier reply, I'm sorry, but I'm unable to link.  It was written a very long time ago and I believe it was wiped out.  The general gist of it was that the author had met someone through CM and met him on a train in the middle of the night to suck him off.  (My kind of thing, right?)  Anyway, the guy included a detail about the train schedule that somebody busted him on.  Three or four pages later, he came back to the thread and admitted that it hadn't really happened.  He was just a married guy who was obsessed with this little fantasy of his, so he typed it up here (CM), a place where he figured his wife would never find it.
