OSF, in answer to your question, yes I think it's ludricous in the extreme when people with very short or no profiles demand lengthy emails from others.

Long emails rather annoy me. Someone can say what they have to say in a few sentences (I'm talking about the opening email) and say what needs to be said. I'll decide from that point if I want to converse with them. Short and simple is perfect for me.
