FelineFae -> Where's Chrisopher Lowell when i need him ? (3/14/2010 11:20:22 PM)

Master and i move a lot. Even when moving into this apartment, i did not think it would be for very long. Well, turns out we are going to be here for a little while.

So now i have the luxary of time, time enough to unpack and decorate. The problem i'm facing is that i'm bit burned out. i've adorned many a place, and now i'm out of ideas.

Any thoughts ? They won't let me paint. [:(]

Maybe pick some type of theme and work around that.You could keep the furniture you have and either by accent pieces to go with and then slowly build it up by adding other stuff like throw pillows curtains ect ect until you get the look you feel fits you and your master.Just a thought.Goodluck with whatever you decide.[:)]

Currently i'd have to say our home has a strong celtic motif applied, we hung many knot-work tapestries on the walls to disguise the nasty white paint.
i've never really picked an exact theme, but now i'm thinking out the concept...
Thanks for the idea.

Christopher Lowell tip (from his 2001 season) - apply fabric to the walls with liquid starch.  Looks just like wallpaper.  When it's time to move, just peel it off and wipe down the walls with a wet sponge to remove the starch residue.

You can also using lighting to bring some color enhancement to a wall. Even if you don't have a lot of money, you can use a lamp on the floor behind something, with a colored bulb and direct it where you want it.

With white walls I take a contrasting color for picture frames, drapes and furniture that makes it look like I was going for that look. I also position drapes to make the window look bigger by putting them high up on the wall and extended passed the window frame.

It would help to know what your tastes are and different things. I think there is a web site for hgtv or a show on hgtv... rate a room or something like that. You can post pictures and ask for input. Without seeing your rooms and knowing you it is harder to think of things. Lots of design shows have information and pictures that can give you ideas.

But one thing to remember... if it isn't fun or you aren't having fun with it, it's going to be harder. Find an inspiration piece.

Art and Plants!

It never feels like home, to me, without art and plants.
