Networked computers have never been completely free of vulnerabilities and security holes. I doubt they ever will or can be. It boils down to the individual sitting at the keyboard or multi-touch interface to make some decisions about how safely they wish to traverse the digital domain. In order to be able to make sound decisions, they need to care enough about this stuff and read up on what the vulnerabilities are and how to use any available workarounds there may be at the time.
Bottom line... the internet is not a completely safe place to be. Either you're good with that or you're not, and if you're not, you shouldn't be online reading this.
