FHP: Driver lacked razor-sharp focus

As authorities nationwide warn motorists of the dangers of driving while texting, Florida Keys law enforcement officers add a new caution: Don't try to shave your privates, either.
Florida Highway Patrol troopers say a two-vehicle crash Tuesday at Mile Marker 21 on Cudjoe Key was caused by a 37-year-old woman driver who was shaving her bikini area while her ex-husband took the wheel from the passenger seat.

"She said she was meeting her boyfriend in Key West and wanted to be ready for the visit," Trooper Gary Dunick said. "If I wasn't there, I wouldn't have believed it. About 10 years ago I stopped a guy in the exact same spot ... who had three or four syringes sticking out of his arm. It was just surreal and I thought, 'Nothing will ever beat this.' Well, this takes it."

Doing makeup while driving is bad enough.  This is .... incredibly stupid.

I've heard that talking to a fellow democrat about the Obama administration while driving is also dangerous. I myself won't have to worry about that one..

I used to read aircraft crash reports and there was one that was about a light aircraft that had piled into a mountain in good weather. On recovery of the bodies, a pilot and  one passenger, both were over the alcohol limit, and the passenger, a female had a bitten off cock in her mouth. The thoughts running around, was now did she bite his dick off before he crashed, or on impact.

Jesus, let no opportunity pass by, eh?

How, in the names of all gods living or dead do you not nick yourself??  Even with an electric you can give yourself a good pinch!

Termyn8or -> RE: Shaving while driving ... (3/10/2010 7:13:06 PM)

Actually since this is not Humor, I assume that coherent commentary is welcome.

I have seen alot of things in my time, and one of them is the plethora of things people think they can do while piloting a two ton (well used to be) killing machine at insane speeds on the road. And we are not just talking about answering a phone while in rush hour traffic, we are talking about people who drive very aggresively, and fast. As fast as possible. As if twelve seconds of their time is worth more than your life.

What's next ? Clipping one's toenails while cruising along at eighty MPH ? What if it is a stickshift ? Well I guess you could get one of the kids to crawl down there and help you work the pedals.

What is next ? "Well officer, I was cropping a file on the CD I just burned from XM radio and all the sudden there was a car that came form nowhere, and I have no idea who that is I ran over". "I was photoshopping some pics on my laptop for work, they need to be sent by ten. Could you just let me go, this is really important". "I was texting my boyfriend and he is leaving me, even though I pay his cellphone bill, you will see me on Judge Judy, he ain't getting away with this".

But you know these things do have their allure. Maybe I will clip my toenails while driving. But I got me one of them newfangled whatchacallits,,,,,, an automatic transmission. That, 4WD and AC that works, not to mention the cow pusher in the front seems to mean that I am good to go. Whaddya think ? I can even get video of it on one of the laptops ! Youtube will never be the same.

There was a radio show I heard here a couple of years ago and the subject of the night was the stupid things people do. One guy said he saw a car weaving on the freeway one morning with feet sticking out the side window. As he passed, he noticed it was a woman putting pantyhose on while driving.

And women wonder why men say they can't drive for shit. Could be because they don't *drive* so much as they attempt to *ride* in a car of which they happen to be behind the wheel.

Stupid does fit here [:)] What I want to know, is why the ex was helping her, as she was going to see a boyfriend?

LaTigresse -> RE: Shaving while driving ... (3/11/2010 4:14:00 AM)

Okay yeah sure!!! On the freeway I see guys shaving while driving all the time! But let ONE WOMAN do it and everyone gets all critical!!![:D]

The above is humour. I think people need to be doing ONE thing while driving.........DRIVING!

No reading, no laptop use, no cell phone, no texting, no shaving, no makeup application, just DRIVING!

divi -> RE: Shaving while driving ... (3/11/2010 4:35:58 AM)

Watched a guy eat spaghetti while driving.. I pulled over

LadyEllen -> RE: Shaving while driving ... (3/11/2010 4:39:25 AM)

Well, just to be contrary then, though its also true - I know that I can drive and at the same time text, have a phone conversation, eat a snack or smoke a cigarette (and maybe even be over the alcohol limit though I wouldnt do that), and still be far, far safer than 90% of the morons in this country who presumably got their licences upon sending in three special coupons from their cornflake packet.

Its all about awareness and reaction time. Not only the awareness at all times of whats going on all around you of course, (which it seems most have no clue about), there is also the awareness of knowing in what circumstances you can do any of these "dangerous" things and still have enough time to react should the circumstances change abruptly. And OK, I passed the jet fighter pilot reaction time tests (RAF Cosford) that most maybe wouldnt, but everyone has a reaction time and should be OK if they work within it.

And no one can tell me that some spotty little 24 year old police guy can do these things - notably drive at dangerous speeds and use a handheld radio - and be safe, whilst for me, with more driving experience than his entire lifespan, they are terribly hazardous.

And you don't need to be driving either.

This is an accident which happened yesterday in Lodz, Poland. An articulated lorry arrived at the entrance to the loading bays of a Lodz supermarket and the 27 year old driver parked up on the ramp. He claims he pulled the handbrake, but whilst he was out of his cab the lorry started moving backwards and gathering momentum over 100 metres crashed trailer first into a wooden house across the road.

Fortunately nobody was at home at the time but there was a lot of damage as the trailer demolished a wall and entered the kitchen.

The driver was sober at the time. Police are investigating what happened, and building experts are also working to decide whether the house will continue to be fit for habitation.

That's nothing I jerk off while driving and fling my love juice out the windows. It's not always pigeon poo you are wiping off the windshield. [:-]

well, 25 years driving, 600,000 miles or so here and on the continent, no accidents, no speeding tickets, nothing, tends to make me believe that some are cut out for driving and some clearly are not, and that its as much about attitude as anything else; far too many dont appreciate that theyre steering a lethal machine and that the traffic code exists for a reason and so do things that range between stupid and downright dangerous as a result, taking no account of the situation.
