On March 4th, the FDA announced an overearching recall that links many of these products through a common ingredient, hydrolyzed vegetable protein (HVP) made by Basic Food Flavors, Inc. that's contaminated with what's called Salmonella Tennessee.
The FDA has a zero policy on salmonella ...

If you go to the site, it has a list of foods being recalled and what trade names they come under.
Seems that there is one main supplier of the powder that  many food  companies buy from.
The FDA has a searchable database of about 700 different items/products that have been recalled.

hope everyone stays healthy

Thanks for the link.  I had just purchased a bag of  Tim's Cascade - Maui Sweet Onion Chips.  Luckily I hadn't opened them yet.

LOL.   :-)   In general I try to go easy on any processed foods.     It is good they exist-as I dont always feel like cooking proper food.

watch the hydro oils.    they can be- a weight packer.    some more then others.  But to delete it from people choosing- I would not do so- tho in this case the potential outbreak makes the recall necessary.

We are blessed to have a wide variety of foods to choose from.

FFS, Lucy, the Mods have enough trouble with kinksters without you expecting them to keep an eye on foodstuffs.

I have never heard of this particular item, and I find myself very upset they are apparently on the recall list. They sound absolutely tastiliscious!

Salmonella, a disease normally contracted from animal food products. How did it get in a vegetable based item? Because the waste taken from CAFOs as part of BMPs, is used as fertilizer on crops. There was a similar incident of people contracting E. coli from packaged spinach. They believe that the plants had managed to take the disease up into the root system and that was why people contracted the disease whether they washed their spinach or not. Because animals are kept in such highly unsanitary conditions in these facilities, they are excellent breeding grounds for pathogens. Also attributable to the inhumane and unsanitary state of these facilities is the overuse of antibiotics. Thanks to the food animal production industry, we are now losing the use of antibiotics which are important to human health. When these antibiotics are flooded into the environment as they are, the pathogens that they are intended to combat become immune to them.
