really love to hear some triumphs.

lusci,

I realized early on that what I wanted to do would take funding, and that in a capitalist system, one needs capital.

Hence, I've always been in multiple directions--music performance/recording/distribution, writing, business/management--and later professorships and agriculture. I adjust among them depending on times, opportunities, and my own interest. I also continually look for new possibilities, whether I decide to pursue them or not, and count my own assets as my only real security, relying or neither employment nor government nor economic conditions to supply my needs.

It's important to do well; it's also important to enjoy life, and to be able to do so with reasonable independence.

I wish you well.

ETA:

Make a long list of all your interests, another of all your skills, and another of all the needs you see around you in the community.

Look for the three way matches--these are job and/or business opportunities, in any economic climate.

Good luck.

My career path ended up being in marketing although my most favorite job was Marketing Communications as it was a great outlet for my artistic side.  But when things changed I realized I would need to look at different industries, sales and marketing can be done anywhere for any industry or company.

When I left everything and moved to Florida I was blessed to find a company that needed service personnel that also allows me to use some salesmanship to earn extra incentive pay in addition to my salary.  I work from the comfort of my own home, have no commute, no stress, no wear and tear on the car nor do I worry about the cost of gas.  No packing a lunch or buying lunch out.  What I earn isn't a whole lot, about 1/2 what I used to make.  But my income is now a secondary income, I pay my own bills, have my own health insurance, contribute to the household and have enough to treat myself once in a while as well.

The company I work for is stable.  That is also important to me.

SO I have had a first interview and am set up for a practicle interview of my skills for the spa. I interviewed at one of the leasing places. Upon further review the one with 1,000's of listings plus the ability for me to start part time is the one that interests me. The interveiwe was honest not only about how long it would take to see results initially (a month), as I would have to go through training first and how much I could make first year(she said 25,000 to 40,00). She thought it was a good idea to transition into it as its stressful to not have money coming in. I would also be expected to take a real estate class and get licensed but could work on a permit to start. She also said that the clients are given to us. There are plenty of locations and listing and the business has a great reputation as they were the first in the city and have been in business for 26 years.

The company I decided against was restricted to one area of the city, luxury apartments and they had only 200 apartments. The other that I am intereted in had 1,000s of studios alone not to mention all the other types of listings. Plus they sell real estate also.

I am to call her to see if my schedule will work with theirs part time next monday. If I stay with the part time work I have now, no problem. If I get the spa job, I would have monday to wednesday. That isnt ideal but she still may be able to work with me. Either way, I think I will take classes to get licensed.
